What a strange and wonderful beast Vice was.
The very idea of calling a middle class millenial hipster a journalist and sending them off to a war torn country so they could do drugs with a cartel and report back on the underground scene there is pure 2010s.
And when it happened across real journalism, it took it in its stride. This was the competition to main stream media. It was aware and smart.
It was also shockingly platform literate. The video content was just as vital as the written stuff.
The fact it didn’t endure is pretty sad. It’s fairly indicative of where we are going.
I saw this article the same day that I saw Google announce the removal of the news tab from its search results.
Not good times.
That’s too bad. Use it when other engines[‘ news searches] fail.
When an outfit starts to real journalism, shit gets ugly and the pressure for assholes at the top to sell out intensifies greatly. The journalism industry is totally fucked up mostly because corporations have corrupted the shit out of it for profit.
Oof, they were already running really short on money and asking for donations. Sad to see this. Their investigative journalism was rlly top notch.
I think if you oversee a company valued at 5 billion and render it unable to support even a website, you should have your assets seized and be forbidden from a management position ever again.
But these guys will get even richer and find a new host to feed off of in a month
Really going to miss Hamiltons pharmacopoeia
He must want to deploy that golden parachute quickly. I wonder why.

so long vice
You really droppin shit from 20 years ago, saying it doesnt fit todays standards and using that to cheer the slow death of the free press?
And nothing of value was lost.
I was hoping for a new King Of The Road season, guess Thrasher will have to do it themselves
