In fact, it’s more likely, since for example, you could make corporations pay for being able to use your code under a different license.
If it was MIT, they can just use it and give you fuck all.

If it’s open source, there’s roughly a 100% chance someone will make it work on Linux.

I think it’s just sheltered people that didn’t (/weren’t forced to) discover all the possible evil in human behavior.
Lots of people grow up in a decent environment, without many major problems. If that is the case, it is very psychologically disadvantageous to become aware of all the evil possible by literally everybody, because this realization is extremely painful.
Ignorance is bliss and so on. Active, willful ignorance works just as well because our mind is so good at compartmentalizing. People like this can actually unconsciously be actively ignorant, because even the action of trying to be ignorant can be ignored successfully, that’s how “good” at that the human mind is.
Because of that, in my opinion, your kind of comment is a little unhelpful. You’re entirely right of course, but you phrased it relatively aggressive/as if it was completely obvious, as if you think people that don’t believe that should feel bad. But I think the correct approach is to point your message out in a neutral/compassionate way, to make it easier for these ignorant people to read and feel less psychological pain, triggering less of the mental defenses. In any case though, I personally appreciate you :)

it goes against his own initial intention
It goes against his initial stated intention.
Just because he said something doesn’t mean it’s the truth. The way he acted about it initially and the way he acts now makes it blatantly obvious that his actual initial intentions were always nefarious, and he simply lied about his intentions to get sympathy like you’re giving him.

Wär interessant zu wissen, woher die anscheinend wissen, dass es diese Person war, aber nicht, ob es mehrere waren. Kommt mir schwerer vor die genaue Identität des Täters zu finden, als wie viele involviert waren?

I guess I’m the 0/10 case then

Meh, how often do you really do some serious work where you’re not on your own hardware? Depends on your job I guess, if you’re company tech support and walk around to people’s PCs the whole time, but if you’re a programmer or similar, when are you really not going to do your work on your PC?
It’s not like you can’t work with a default layout afterwards, you’re just going to be a bit slower on one. It really didn’t happen very often for me in years of working.

I simply made my own keyboard layout. Accent grave is just a single press for me, altgr+accent is the “normal” combining one. Also changed äö to () and shift+äö to [].
It’s not that hard, it’s just a markup file I had to copy+modify and put in some folder.

Naja man könnte ja mal anfangen damit, Linke regieren zu lassen, und dann kann man ja sehen, ob ne andere Regierung was bringt
Just don’t connect them to the internet, then it doesn’t matter.

Wenn man es nicht anders kennt und keine andere Wahl hat, machen Menschen viel mit. Sklaven überall haben auch gelebt und Kinder gekriegt.

The thing is, are they really leaving money on the table? Higher prices means less customers, yes, but also higher profits per unit. We don’t actually know right now how many people would be willing to pay these new prices: if it costs twice as much but half the customers are still fine buying it, then profit stayed the same. And with no choice, I suspect much more than half are going to pay double.
Of course, the people who wouldn’t do that are a potential market, but they are also a much lower profit margin. Comparably, that’s probably not that much for these people.

Unfortunately, the US regularly intervenes in foreign countries’ affairs, so it’s not possible and geopolitically pretty stupid to not worry about the US. You can worry about both, though.

The problem is that the 340 million people there are incredibly diverse. While a large part would circlejerk about how superior they are, another large part wouldn’t. It’s easy and fun to lump all Americans together, and even mandated by our brains inability to process such large numbers, but doing it always unfortunately alienates the ones that do not exhibit the traits you ridicule.
It’s so much better (and useful) to just ridicule the traits/behaviors themselves instead of the relatively unrelated nationality. There’s nationalists and smug superiority everywhere.

If you’re going to the US, you’re supporting whatever is going on over there. It makes you worse than the many people in the US that were born there for no fault of their own, now trying to work against it.
Schadenfreude, while very natural, is bad enough by itself, actually increasing the Schaden is even worse. So I’m not sure exactly what you’d be celebrating, except your own shittyness.
And I’m not from the US, so “my” nation isn’t even the one you’re talking about.
I mean how often do you install AUR packages? Usually takes like a minute or so to skim through PKGbuild and the pkg comments and look for obvious issues. And most updates are just a sha hash and version change, taking like 5s to check.
