Wietrzyk’s major sponsor, Puma, is distancing itself from the athlete by quietly removing “Joanna Wietrzyk x PUMA” clothing items from its website. But a spokesperson for Puma says there’s “no change” to their partnership with Wietrzyk, telling CBC News in a statement Thursday that some landing pages were “unintentionally taken offline.”

There are tons of private programs where kids go to class for an hour and then participate in a sport for two hours and then back to class for an hour, etc. Hockey is especially rife with these kinds of programs because hockey kids tend to have money. Why is a school allowed to get any degree of public funding when half (or more) of the kid’s “education” is just playing a sport? Beyond public money, how is that considered an acceptable equivalent to an actual 6-8 hour per day education?

They cant even make any argument that these kids are likely to be successful because of the sport. Odds are their academic skills will be too shitty to play for a college (if they are held to real standards), and the odds of them succeeding in athletics are slim to none considering how rare it is for someone to become a professional athlete. Sports based schools shouldn’t exist any more than this shit should

Having the whole system be onsite and closed circuit requires a lot more hardware and wiring. IP cameras used to be an almost unusable option, but nowadays with how much data is required by high quality video it’s a far more reasonable option. Not to mention latency has improved significantly, which used to be a big problem with IP cameras.

Verkada style IP camera systems are far easier to install as well, compared to hardwiring a CCTV throughout a huge facility.

It can certainly be “online” and still be highly secure. Most clients would prefer that option over a traditional system

Saying substance X is more addictive than substance Y is a fully different statement than substance X has more severe withdrawal symptoms than substance Y.

Alcohol has such severe withdrawal symptoms that it can easily kill people who are severely addicted to alcohol. But alcohol is not nearly as addictive as many other things to the point where far less people ever experience that type of withdrawal from alcohol.

Cigarettes are more addictive than heroin, heroin is more addictive than alcohol. In making that type of statement, no one is ever saying that being a smoker is more consequential than being a heroin addict. People dont often turn to theft or prostituting themselves or lose a job over smoking a cigarette… literally everyone understands that
