Technology@lemmy.world•Intel to release new CPUs on old socket in early 2027 says Gigabyte - memory crisis making DDR4 desirable againEnglish
5·2 days agoI checked recently and my particular ddr4 memory has quadrupled. I had bought an extra 16Gb just before the crisis because I hit oom with poe1 once, so I guess it was lucky timing. Haven’t checked other rams though.
That’s a lot of money, isn’t it? Just buy a 4Tb HDD, backup and store somewhere offsite. Will pay of in a year.
If you go by the Greek origin of the word (ιστορία), that’s more correct. Correcter, if you will.
“all kinds of music that the generic radio stations play”
“There’s only two kinds of music, good and bad”

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Sell a !patientgamers reader on your favorite patient game
2·1 month agoI generally want to, am just in a lot of pressure in my life at the moment and want to stay more in my safe space of roguelikes and so. But I plan on giving it a go eventually in a few months.
I did try out some things in game, visited some planets and so, but I wouldn’t say I discovered something major yet. I won’t view the linked video at the moment to avoid potential spoilers, but thank you nonetheless!

3·1 month agoAh. I initially bought outer worlds, which kinda sucks, and then outer wilds. Meh. I still haven’t finished it but it’s on my todo.
Planescape torment is the best game I’ve ever read. Or the best book if ever played. Something like that. And I’ve played a lot of visual novels, and admittedly some get close. A must play seriously.
Disco Elysium is also great and certainly worth playing.

No, it is important to them because it makes them money.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•How to capture current windows install into a VM imageEnglish
2·3 months agoI would just make a partition to install Linux on, keep the windows partition (resize first as needed) and then create a raw disk vmdk image to run windows from the real partition instead of a virtual drive.
Pretty easy and you can continue to dual boot whenever needed.
Hahahahah. Yeah, indeed…
