      “for a sec”

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a communist; Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a socialist; Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist; Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew; Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Are you only willing to act once they are at your doorstep?

google any major US city and put protest behind it and you will get swaths of news about ICE protests. It’s not hard to step outside and unite with the people of the US, no matter where in the US you are. The notion that it only influences you, once those ICE thugs are knocking up your neighbourhood is the downfall of the will of the people. Grow some empathy and get active! Defending democracy is a hard and long task, but one ultimately worth fighting for. Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere.
