    Those who are disfavored by authoritarian governments may lose access not just to pornography, but to social media and all of these other services.

    Nothing anyone can say will ever convince me that this is not the true purpose behind these laws

      Eh, let’s not be ageist about this. Ignorant and corrupt legislation isn’t caused by the elderly, it’s caused by ignorance and corruption, which are not exclusive traits of elderly people.

        For sure, but you’ll note that the average age of Congress people is about 58 in the House and 64 in the Senate. It’s not exactly correlation without causation - right now I see a lot of people that are solidly above 60 there that I wouldn’t trust not to steal change from a donation bucket for orphans.

    Hm. Fair enough. I’ll confess to being one of those “just use zero knowledge proofs and move on” folks. But those are pretty good points.

    Maybe in a future world where the verifier system can, itself, be verified without compromising any data…?
