I’ll believe the United States will not fall into eventual fascism the first time programs like these are cut.
As far as I can see, it’s just a continuing ratchet of surveillance increasingly tempting abuse.
eventual? it’s here dude. Roving ICE (SS) patrols, people snatched up and thrown into god knows where, human rights abuses, ignoring our literal constitution and bill of rights. Soon enough they’ll start emptying our accounts of money if we speak out against them
I’m saying even if we do get rid of Trump, nobody has rolled back any of the infrastructure of the police state that has been accelerating since 9/11, and probably won’t in the future, making fascism inevitble.
That last part isn’t even far off the horizon. The bureaucracy and legal framework already exists — banks and all manner of institutions will unperson you if you get associated with a “terrorist” organization; so all needs is to classify some domestic nonprofit as a terrorist organization, and bam, all involved or who’ve donated become unpersoned.
