I don’t mind other opinions. I don’t mind different points of view. I don’t mind culture and mentality differences. I’m Ukrainian living in America so the views I have, while leaning heavily left, differ to the point of leftists vehemently opposing even the slightest push back to some policies or views.

For this reason I never delete my comments and never block anyone. I need to see more. I need to see the different people and cultures. Otherwise we set up a community like parts of Seattle (where I live) that is in this political bubble that get shocked when anyone has views that differ. It creates this perspective that these other people don’t exist and that the world was stolen from them. And the reason they can’t comprehend other views is because they’re involved in communities where these views get erased.

Yeah I’m turned off from interacting. I got banned (I’m guessing since I can’t even reply to people) from world news when Maduro was kidnapped and I mentioned that my Venezuelan friends were hopeful. As this was scary but good news. And my god how I got flamed. Theres no room for conversation I got tagged, replied to, people made fun of me and that’s it. I wasn’t even allowed to interact anymore so it looks like I just said something and ran away.

I’m not even close to center, yet it’s all or nothing with politics here. It’s seriously become reddit 2.0. Pathetic.

It’s a little different since American democracy is supposed to be a lot more stable than Venezuela. But if the election was clearly stolen (imagine trump running for a 3rd term), and then he was removed by another country after deliberations with the opposing leadership here, then yeah kinda. It’d be terrifying. But the guy who stole our country’s leadership, the one running and ruining our lives has been removed. What comes after, what deals were made with the devil, that’s all terrifying. And the people in Venezuela are holding their breath.

You’re wrong on that. I haven’t heard any Venezuelan claim Maduro was elected. He cemented his seat in power after the last election where he clearly lost. So stop making things up for your own optics.

What? I’m not ok with any of this I’m remarking on the fact that people in Venezuela are celebrating. There are more people in this world than us you know.

I hate Trump. But I have a friend in Venezuela. It’s been hell for him and his family the last couple years. Maduro and his “elites” controlled the country and caused massive poverty to its citizens. This is the best news of hope he can’t stop talking about. Maybe it’s reading it on the news that gives us our biased opinions but for someone who is living there in the hell caused by Maduro and his group this is the best news you can imagine.

My friend, you don’t know me or my participation. The corporate democratic party is not the ally you wish it to be. I’ll be voting blue while we are only presented this false dichotomy of a system, but only because it’ll decay our system slower.

I’m trying to tell you there’s no slow process change out of this administration. Neither party cares for the people at large and neither will give up power without revolutionary thinking. Even if a Biden like presidency and administration runs for the next 12 years the American people will not be better off. And unfortunately the alternative that is needed for the people isn’t one that has a foot in the door to even start the slow process rolling. Look at Mamdani. The backlash is heavy and he hasn’t even started.

Anyways. History doesn’t show substantial victory in voting. Voting keeps a citizen government moving policies around slowly. Unfortunately our current system is anything but by the people It’s chaos, uncertain, and most definitely untenable to people. This is a government of blue corporates who want a president with decorum to make deals with the world, and red oligarchs who thrive on the chaos, privatization, and a rauntier economy. Unfortunately the past 10 years the oligarchs have won. No 4 year Biden presidency is going to fix what the country has become. Not a 2 term social democratic administration can fix this without absolutely dismantling what the country has become. And unfortunately that is going to be violent.

Aristotle wrote when the oligarchal system is created with the inequities we see now, the only two choices are tyranny or revolution.

Well said. It’s crazy how I can agree with 80% of progressive ideals but as soon as I mention I don’t want men in thongs introduced to my children I get absolutely flamed.

If you don’t want to be seen as someone taking things out of context, or exaggerating a statement then argue using facts. Arguing with my right wing family is a nightmare, but when it’s clear cut and easy for them to digest they get to see the hypocrisy easier. Making statements like “Trump doesn’t care about America because he literally said he doesn’t” and then showing them this article, then they watch the clip. And the eye roll they’d do.

Listen, this needs to stop. I hate Trump too but you’ll never argue with the right if you take things or if context. He clearly doesn’t care about America but he also clearly said “this may get me in trouble but I don’t care” then goes off on how the right wants crime gone and the left are the ones doing it.
