It is not a meaningless statement at all. Hamas have been deliberately using civilians as human shields since at least the second infatida. They have publicly admitted as much on numerous occasions going back to 2008. They use mosques, hospitals and UNRWA schools as weapons caches and launch sites.

You do know that Hamas has been firing missiles indiscriminately since February 2002. How many other countries are expected to just put up with being attacked on a near daily basis for two decades?

Until this round of war it was Israel’s official position for decades. The big hold up on the two state solution was that Hamas in particular has never agreed to recognise Israel.

The only time Israel started hostilities that lead to war was in the 6 day war, which was a preemptive strike after Egyptian provocation. Every other time they were attacked first.

You have the sequence wrong. Hezbollah has been firing missiles at Israel, over 300 according to the Hindustan times. They have also been using drone strikes. Israel fired back.

Like any military would do no matter what the country. Using the tunnels to move weapons literally makes them a legitimate military target. Perhaps you need to read up on the rules of war.

If the tunnels are used for military purposes then that is a reason to bomb them. That goes for any place. If they use a hospital as a weapons cache, that hospital becomes a legitimate target. Same if it is a mosque, a school etc. Using civilians as human shields is in itself a war crime.

If you start attacking another country you don’t really call for sympathy when that second country kicks your collective arses.
