  • All languages are stupid. Japanese has 3 different scripts, with the kanji having made up characters that don’t even mean anything. Chinese has a coherent grammatically poem where every word is just shi making “Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo” look like child’s play. Romance languages felt it necessary to give every noun a gender that you have to memorize, and German decided that wasn’t complicated enough so they added a third gender. Welsh and Gaelic use the latin alphabet, but just made up their own rules so the language doesn’t sound anything at all the way it looks to other languages that use the Latin alphabet.

All languages are messy and illogical since they evolve over time to accommodate the needs of the speakers at any given time, and then you end up with weird holdovers that no longer make sense, but that’s just how things are done so we keep doing it that way. Artificial languages have been created to maintain a logic, but no one uses them, and if they were adopted universally they would lose that logic as people use the languages in ways that were never intended.

They aren’t written by experts. They are written by the chrapest writer that could be found. The error rates on a traditional encyclopedia is about the same as on Wikipedia. The only thing people love more than making shit up os calling people out when you know they are making shit up. Wikipedia is just as acceptable an academic source as Encyclopedia Brittanica. You can use it for some non-critical tangentially related information, but it’s a starting off point

  • Dating apps are designed to keep you on them. They cant make money of you use them for a few months and then delete it.

Young people are actually using social media platforms like Instagram and Snapchat to date. People you sorta knew in high school or college, share some mutual interests, and then hang out from there and see what happens.

  • I know, but it’s frustrating when i search “restaurants in Cityville” and the results show restaurants in Cityville Indiana instead of my homestate. Or i search for “T-Mobile stores near me” and they list off ones 3 counties over instead of the ones near me. I understand that it is a privacy thing, but it is very annoying.

Same thing happens when i look up items on the grocery store website to see if they have something i need. Firefox seems to think i live over an hour away in Dearborn Michigan, so i have to adjust my location manually every time. I understand why it happens and i can accept it , but that doesn’t mean it isn’t frustrating.
