I haven’t felt that in years, especially with multicore+decent amounts of ram. Windows can update in the background and its not even noticeable anymore (IMO).

Linux@programming.dev•Linux is actually very vulnerable to exploits and it's showing with high value vulnerabilities that has been dropping in the latest years; FreeBSD is way better in security record
28·8 days agoLol.
Linux has vulnerabilities found because its a popular OS, so people actually vulnerability hunt on it. No one cares about freeBSD, so it doesn’t get the same scrutiny.
This is also the same reason Windows has so many reported vulnerabilities, it is a massive target worth exploiting.

I nominate my parents cat, Neo:

He gets bullied by my cat, which is half his size, and then hides in his homeless box.

1·11 days agoI have no idea why I got that stuck in my head wrong. Still, my point stands, anyone can buy any domain at any time. Ownership of a domain implies nothing.

Tailscale is probably the right move there in that case. Also OS caching may still cause delays.
DNS is the way around it. But, the caveat is that while you can update your DNS entry as often as you like, itll often be cached on intermediate servers for an unknown amount of time. Expect a downtime of anywhere from a few minutes to days everytime your address changes.

Is your dual core still supported by windows? That must be ancient, in which case Linux would be your only option?
