  • Definitely, any changes natural or anthropogenic would be measured and to great accuracy. I just wanted to point out that the notion of the general public, especially if conditioned to distrust scientists and authorities, not noticing changes isn’t the outlandish part. See global warming denial despite years of record setting temperatures.

Ignoring conspiracy theory stuff, people aren’t very good at perceiving changes in light levels if they happen gradually. During any solar eclipse there are wide bands where only a partial eclipse is observed. It’s pretty common for people in those bands to not notice that something has changed even with 50% occlusion.

  • Yeah that’s my attitude as well. I grow the things that are significantly better straight out of the garden. The best tomatoes are too fragile to go through the sorting machinery, so growing your own enables much higher quality produce. Berries are way better picked ripe. Green beans are also super easy to grow and are better fresh.

Then there’s varieties that just aren’t popular enough for many stores to stock and specialty stores are far and expensive: patty pan squash, molokhia, ground cherries, shallots, celery leaves (I don’t like the stalk), a variety of herbs, peppers that aren’t bell or jalapeno, etc.

Anecdotally, I loathe my LG and am trying to figure out what to replace it with.

I have replaced the drain pump on it 5 times, because they did a terrible job designing the strainer basket, and the impeller is very fragile. It only takes a few strands of long hair to reach 3/4" past the strainer basket to tangle and break the impeller.

It’s also an all in one, but the dryer functionality was clearly designed as a bolt on afterthought. There’s no lint filter so inevitably lint builds up and choked off airflow. Then the air temp gets hot enough to melt the front boot.

When we first got the unit, our 40psi water pressure ruptured two internal hoses because lg couldn’t be bothered to use fiber reinforced hoses. Dealing with potential water damage so lg could save a few cents is not worth it.

I will actively avoid LG going forward.

I think it would be the progression from gathering firewood in the winter. They would notice that logs are easier to drag in the snow/on ice. Logs also glide way more easily along their length as opposed to across the side. So maybe you pick a couple long logs to pile all your other sticks on so you can drag a whole heap of wood in one go. Eventually that gets refined into a sleigh with bone runners. Then you just need someone who wants to have some fun with the idea and plays around with making a miniature version they can strap to their feet.

  • He hasn’t had a great streak in completing progress in haunted chocolatier because he keeps getting pulled back into stardew valley ports and making new content for stardew valley. If he and his collaborators soon have to support both stardew valley and haunted chocolatier across multiple platforms, I don’t expect development on a new stardew valley game to progress quickly at all. I would expect half life 3 like timelines.
