2·9 months agoApparently, the trophy actually comes in two parts. It’s supposed to come apart. Vance didn’t know that, picked it up the wrong way, and it came apart and (when it hit the ground) broke.

1·10 months agoHuh. Never realized that. I’ve only ever heard Linux users call it CLI, so I just assumed it was what most Linux users called the Terminal. And I assumed Terminal was the generic name since Mac also has a Terminal app.
Also, side note: it’s called Terminal on Windows now, too. Windows unified their Powershell and Command Prompt programs into a single app (on the surface, at least). You can open either Powershell or Command Prompt using tabs in the app.

2·10 months agoTo be fair, Windows really hasn’t pushed Powershell all that much. They haven’t even fully ported over all of Command Prompt’s commands. You have to prefix those with
.\(I think; it’s been a while) in order to get them to run even though the error message that comes up if you don’t include that will tell you, “Hey, there’s a command named this. Prefix it with that to use it.”Now, instead of simply porting everything over, they have one app (named Terminal) running both programs.

3·11 months agoGOG Galaxy has the ability to download offline installers. They’re listed under Extras on the game’s page. It’s arguably even better there than on the website because you can download those .bin files all in a single click.

5·11 months agoPrime Gaming gives away free games every week or so. It’s one of the perks available to those subscribed to Amazon Prime.
Those games can be on EGS, Amazon’s own launcher (that nobody uses), GOG, or Legacy Games Launcher.
To be clear, uBlock Origin isn’t the problem, either.
YouTube is.

Games@lemmy.world•What are your favorite "gotta go in blind" games?English
3·1 year agoI’ll also add The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC. I know there’s a remake coming out next year, but there’s a bunch of shady stuff surrounding how they’re gonna localize it. (Supposedly, they’re gonna use AI to try to do most of it and then have real people brush it up.)
So I’d recommend playing the original instead. It’s a 2.5D game with a mostly 360° camera. It uses turn-based combat, but not traditional turn-based combat. And it has a great story.
It’s also on sale for only US$9.99 on GOG (which is DRM-free) and Steam.

5·1 year ago13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.
Do not go in knowing anything.
The most I will tell you is that it’s an adventure game with some minor tower defense elements. And that it is the best game I’ve ever played, and no game has ever topped it since.
We do a lot of commemorative stamps instead.

I can’t remember the last time I got a DLL error on my Windows laptop, honestly. I don’t think that’s ever happened on my current computer.

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft just paused Windows 11 24H2 update for many PCs due to crashes and freezesEnglish
1·1 year agoI’ve had the odd stability issue every now and then. (There was one ongoing issue with my wifi that was caused by a bug in my manufacturer’s driver, but that was years ago on Windows 10, and they eventually fixed it.) But I honestly haven’t had any issues caused specifically by Microsoft recently that I can recall.
Any problems caused by major features updates are usually solved by simply reinstalling the driver. (And I haven’t had any of those sorts of problems in at least a couple years.)
OP didn’t mention games that have Denuvo in them. They simply mentioned pre-ordering games.
And before anyone says this is a post about Denuvo, OP’s comment was phrased in such a way that it could sound like, “Why would anyone pre-order games in the first place in 2024, regardless of whether or not it has Denuvo?”
I said I hardly ever buy PC games.
If I’m interested in a PC-only game, I check GOG first, then I check Steam. I will rarely ever pre-order a PC game.
Edit: Also, I appreciate the (probably unintentional) Attack on Titan reference.
ten years at least.
If you haven’t seen the show, don’t look it up. It’s a spoiler.
They have said they’re adding an off switch for all their AI stuff in Q1 next year. We’ll see how well it works, though.
