I remember one from 3rd grade. We were all quiet working on an assignment. Our teacher was loved and respected, so we behaved well. You could here hear every single thing in that room; it was that quiet. Shit, it was so quiet, you could hear the quiet. So a kid named Alex gets up to talk to the teacher, but when he stands up, he rips a loud and crispy fart. It was a textbook fart, crescendo-ing an octave of pitch. If you can hear it your head now, then you know what I’m talking about. The kid froze with an embarrassed smile and holding a paper. We could see his face start blushing. The class erupted in laughter. He sat back down, folded his arms on his desk, and hid his face in them.

It was at this moment that we all realized Alex was bad. Jk. We thought it was really funny and that’s it. Alex and I went to different schools from 4th - 9th grade, but I ran back into him at school in 10th. We took a summer class together. The dude was a trip. Funny af.

Also, as an adult, you have to provide for yourself. Without language, that virtually becomes impossible. Therefore, you have to keep using a language you already know, which reduces immersion. As a 2-5 year-old, everything is provided for you, so you don’t have to use a language you already know. You can just be there messing up language all you want in trial-and-error until you get it.

To make a real quasi-experimental study (random assignment is impossible because age cannot be assigned), we’d have to ensure that adults are given the same amount of support with activities of daily living as children. We’d also have to give them the same understanding, compassion, and forgiveness for mistakes, and also encouragement and esteem support.

I looked into the things that were done to try to keep Trump in office. They seriously tried to conduct a coup. No doubt. It’s not ambiguous. It wasn’t a wacky protest that Trump kind of got riled up and it went too far. Trump wasn’t the only one involved. They didn’t try to take advantage of a loophole. They straight up tried to overturn the election using corruption, intimidation, coercion, and violence. It didn’t fail because it was a bad attempt. It was stopped by many people that had integrity. We were this close 🤏 to losing what we have of democracy. The fact that Trump et al. isn’t in jail or worse is a sign of how infected our system is.

Someone please prove me wrong. I want to be wrong, but I can’t convince myself that I am.

I like Linux because it let’s me do whatever I want on it. Windows is so controlling. For example in Windows, there are lots of occasions where a window will pop up asking you do make a decision, and while that window is up, you cannot click on any of the other windows. Say I want to save a file, but I want to look at the document. If the save window is up, I can’t review the document because it wont let me. That’s so freaking annoying.

Aside from all sorts of little annoyances like that, Linux is sooooo customizable. Using KDE PLasma, I could just add widgets on my desktop that show me the status orf my computer or even let me write notes right on the desktop. To do that on Windows, I have to mess with Rainmeter for days trying to figure out the proper settings using a text protocol I am not familiar with. While Linux does run into some difficulties, they tend to be easily solvable by just running an Internet search or posting on a forum relevant to your distro/DE.

Lastly, there are lots of things that just work on Linux that don’t on Windows. For instance, my network printer just works. I didn’t even have to install a driver. I just added the printer and it did everything else for me. Or, I could use KDE Connect and easily transfer files from my phone to my desktop and vice verse, get phone notifications on my desktop, and even text from it without any tinkering. It just works.

The only reason I could see people using Windows aside from subjective preferences is when they’re forced to because of work or they realllly want to play a one fo the few games that doesn’t work on Linux. Otherwise, Linux is just objectively better as a whole.

I’m a Linux user since 2010. I’ve been pure Linux since 2020. I do not fall under any of those groups tho :/
