AND WELCOMED TO THE JAM!

AND WELCOMED TO THE JAM!

Part of me agrees with this, part of me thinks that these people are too far into the weeds to know what’s possible. Change brings chaos. And when you’re at your stressful job with a shitty machine that you are constantly trying to keep running, eventually you reach a point where the thought of turning off the machine is unthinkable.
From an outside perspective, it seems obvious. The machine is bad. We should get rid of it and try something different. But that concept is terrifying to the people who work on the machine. Turn it off? But they’ve spent years learning how to work with the machine! They know how to sometimes get the machine to do what they want! If they replace the machine with something else, what if they can’t figure out how to work the new system? Maybe someday they can replace the machine, but right now? In the middle of everything else? No, no, far too risky. Best to try to keep working with the same old machine.

Who do I tell? Their answering machine? Their poorly paid staffer who has to answer calls?
Maybe I should just go talk to my front door knob, or quietly whisper my complaints into a pillow. It would accomplish the same thing.

Literally every wireless controller I have ever owned that used rechargable batteries could be plugged in while I was using it if it started to die. I would bet that 99% of wireless controller users have a power outlet at least somewhere near where they sit to game.

Sophisticated PC gamers: “Graphics aren’t that important. The surge of indie games has shown that fun gameplay is really the only important factor. If big companies really cared, they would spend more time making sure their game was enjoyable to play rather than worrying about dumb things like hair physics and background animations.”
Also sophisticated PC gamers: “OMG the new Pokemon game looks like CRAP! Why would anyone bother to play such an ugly game that looks like it came out 10 years ago?!”

Only for the small percentage of people who follow news about gaming companies. Vast majority of people haven’t heard anything negative, let alone do they give a shit. They might have ruined their reputation for you, personally; but they’re going to do just fine. Nintendo has shown that it doesn’t really matter what your company culture is or what practices you engage in; if you make fun games that are fun, people will buy them.

I’m always extremely wary of post-mortem criticisms of hated figures. Especially when that criticism is about physical characteristics. Just way too many instances in history of people making shit up after the fact like “and he had a small penis too!”. Take the supposed autopsy of King Charles II of Spain which includes such gems as his body “did not contain a single drop of blood”, that his heart was the “size of a peppercorn”, and he had “a single testicle, black as coal”.
Not saying the people making these claims on Hitler are wrong, but it sounds very similar to other instances of historians not letting the truth get in the way of a good story.

Yea, it’s an honest mistake that could happen to anyone! I mean, who among us HASN’T ordered an online prostitute who we thought was barely legal that turned out to be underage? There’s no way to avoid it!

Are you talking about the Steam Link?

Hell yes, two joysticks! My biggest gripe with the first steam controller is that I could NOT get used to using the touchpad as a joystick.

Same punishment as a brick, or acid, or a bunch of razors. Really makes you think.

Better ban the ocean then. I heard millions of people decide to go swimming in it every day and some of them drown.

Sorry, they’ve been defunded. Best they can do is have a guy from Fox News with no scientific background waddle out and claim Climate Change is a hoax made up by the demoncRATS. Maybe blame it on the Jews too, if AIPAC hasn’t been donating as much lately.

Because it’s the New York Young Republican Club? It’s not any actual politicians calling for this. It’s a bunch of incel trolls jerking themselves off to videos of Andrew Tate and having wet dreams about how fucking funny it is for America to do a fascism.

Do you… Not know what Hunt is?

No they aren’t.

I’m looking forward to buying this like I’ve bought all my Civilization games;
Several years after release, at 70% off, with most major bugs fixed and expansions released.
Why would I buy this?
I can only think of one reason, because it’s the game your friends are playing.
You have two choices; buy the shitty game with the understanding that the game itself is not what matters but the time spent playing with your friends. Or, don’t buy the game and spend the next few weeks, or months, not playing with your friends and hope they grow bored of the game soon.
I’m always amazed at the hoops some home owners will go through in a vain attempt to renovate an existing bathroom in their house, rather than just burning their house down and building a new one from scratch. It’s gotta be Stockholm syndrome or something.
Despite it being literally the biggest barrier brought up anytime someone suggests people should switch to Linux, it’s like you guys just can’t seem to get it through your head that literally 99.9% of PC users lack the technical knowledge needed to make the switch and find the amount of time and effort needed to learn how intimidating to the point that, yes, those “hoops” you mention are actually the easier option.
You know what? I’m ok with that. At a certain point in an RPG, I do not really give a shit if the dialog for Generic Quest Giving NPC #41 has soul behind it or not. Is anyone out there really searching for deep, meaningful writing several hours into a game, or are they just clicking through dialog until they figure out how many buzzard asses they need to gather to complete the quest?
