I prefer to keep Shader Precaching on for the Media Foundation fix that Valve uses, but I left Background Processing of Vulkan Shaders off, if I’m not wrong this way it should only update when you open a game.

Alternatively you could disable it and use Proton-GE for the games that need the Media Foundation fix. Performance should be the same nowadays with it on or off.

What that user said is an exageration, sure, but they are not far off. Your only options under capitalism are work and pray to earn enough to pay for rent, or live in the streets. There’s no choice here, you have no safety nets, no certainty.

The reality is that the biggest FOSS projects are usually bankrolled by companies that need them, not because of some moral good, but because it makes more monetary sense to do it that way.

Now for the other side, projects with no money incentive involved, where people contribute because they want too, usually are slow or in need of more contributors, precisely because, under capitalism, they don’t have enough free time, they need to worry about their full time job and all the other priorities in their lives before they can sit down and contribute some code.

Again, there no moral judgement here, it’s simply a description of the material reality.

I’ve been using it for a few months now and I think it is great. I can’t compare it to Goodreads and others because I have not used them, but it is pretty straight forward to add a book, give a rating and write a review. I like the UI a lot too.

The only problems I have with it is that the API they use is not very good for adding books in my native language and that backup is manual and I don’t know if it has integration with Android’s automatic backup.

Also, it would be nice to be able to write multiple reviews for the same book, it would be cool to see how much my vision and opinion of a particular title changed over time. I should probably suggest this feature on their github.

Oh, thanks I forgot it was called bangs. I used DDG a few years ago but missed some features from Google, so I ended up giving up on it, maybe I’ll try again soon.

I use Brave Search on Firefox, but I mostly use the shortcuts it provides like !yt and !g. A few months back I mostly used it over google, but the search results more times than not have been worse in comparison for me.

VLC gave me trouble last year so I ended up using Haruna. The only thing I miss is downloading subtitles, but I can use VLC for that, everything else I think Haruna is near perfection.

Yep. You can have a look at ProtonDB to have an ideia of how well a game runs through Proton.

It’s not completely correct as some games marked with lower ratings will work flawlessly, and some with higher ratings will probably give you some trouble, but it’s a really useful resource.

Proton is basically Wine bundled with other software, like DXVK and VKD3D, to run windows games.

You have to enable it in the Configuration window inside of Steam if you haven’t done that yet. Enabling it is all you have to do and it will be used automatically.

Been playing The Binding of Isaac a lot for the last couple weeks. I’m approching 500 hours total and Tainted Lost is breaking my will nearly everyday 🙃. I want to finish Disco Elysium, but my ADHD is really bad lately, so I end only playing Isaac since it’s my confort game.
