Trump and MAGA will be more than happy to let him take credit and the blame for doge. Although it really was the think tank behind project 2025. Passing the blame to Musk is a win for Trump. So that is part of being used, chewed up by his remaining fans and then thrown away like the garbage he is. We’ll see how his net worth develops.

I guess my main point is that Elon doesn’t really have a “base” any more. Neither the neoliberal technologists and futurists he charmed nor MAGA are on his side any more. He burned his bridges with public support. So he only has his money to influence representatives. And is empire is crumbling too.
What prompted me is that the neoliberal mainstream press and social media is jumping on this as if it was a turning point. This is another “Trump is in deep trouble now!” after he or someone else said something.
PS: I’d be curious where Peter Thiel stands, the handler of Vance.
PPS: If Thiel backs the impeachment Thiel will become president and that might align with their goals to dismantle democracy in the US.
Elon Musk isn’t really part of MAGA though. He joined Trump and MAGA shortly before the election and now got chewed up by Trump like anyone else did. Nobody on the Republican side gives a shit about him. With his money he can make trouble but thinking this is a turning point is silly. It’s just more chaos.

Non state-actors and special interest have a far easier time attacking a hundred small entities than one big one. Because people have much less bandwidth to track all this shit than it is to spread it around. See ALEC and the strategy behind state rights.
In the end this is about economic power. The only way to curb it is through a democratic government. Lemmy servers too can be bought and sold and the communities captured that grew on them.
LarmyOfLone@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.world•Why does digital violence against LGBTI people in Thailand and Taiwan continue even after marriage equality?English22·4 months agoYes. Cooperatives = co-ops. Let the workers (and possibly users) elect management and what to invest profits into.
LarmyOfLone@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.world•Why does digital violence against LGBTI people in Thailand and Taiwan continue even after marriage equality?English418·4 months agoEasy. Nationalize social media and turn them into democratic cooperatives with the mandate to enforce strict moderation on hate speech.

Misogyny is hatred of women - especially when they are not obedient or leave a man. So nothing really new.
What is new is social media and neoliberal control for profit, and a complete lack of accountability and moderation to stem the tide of hate speech.

Oh is that the bastard administrator from hell?
True, the american dream, liberty, land of opportunity, make your own way, that’s why people come. But it’s a lie right? So can a lie be a culture? Or is it a mass delusion? Maybe, colonial settlers also went to the US despite knowing how dangerous it is to die on a wagon train (I mean dysentery, not indians haha). So taking a huge risk of catastrophic failure could bee seen as a culture.
I don’t think you can call it a culture but propaganda to justify their personal greed and neoliberal policies. Basically sociopathy as an ideology for the elite, dressed up as “whatever” for the masses.

LarmyOfLone@lemm.eeto World News@lemmy.world•Carney's Liberal party wins Canadian election and completes a stunning turnaround fueled by TrumpEnglish2·5 months agoI think ultimately we need to design an economic system that allows less work and less consumption. You want those outsourced jobs to come back but done by robotics. Coming back to stop needing to ship them halfway across the world, wasting energy. But we need to have a clear(er) vision to what we want to transition to. Like a partially planned and circular economy that covers the basic needs (food, living space, education, news, healthcare) for everyone for free. Otherwise there is nothing to believe in.

That’s not true! No matter what kind of billionaire he was in life, now he is a good billionaire. You might also say that all dead billionaires are good billionaires.
