Yeah, it worked out good. I’m not gonna say it easn’t a rocky road to get there. It did take a lot of awkward conversations, but I feel we’re better off now.
This is when comes the part everybody likes talking about but nobody likes doing, you gotta set boundaries. I had a ton of friends like that who would vent to me and then never do the inverse, so one time I just straight up told a friend who did this to me to not talk about her problems with me if she didn’t want to solve them. Saying I was sick of hearing her complain to me and if she did, then I’d turn my brain off and become a wall.
You gotta do that. Friendships can be difficult like any relationship and these are going to be needed. You can’t have a relationship with no boundaries. I’ve tried. They don’t work ever. So long as your friends are willing to respect them or at least try to, you might have something good. Have these difficult and awkward talks with your friends. It’ll honestly make your friendships stronger and better.

Privacy@lemmy.world•The LG Smart TV Problem - Gamer’s NexusEnglish
171·3 days agoDid a gas leak happen in here? Why are the comments on this post so weird?
Maybe some people are a bit too ‘all or nothing’ when it comes to privacy. Youtube isn’t the best, but what Gamers Nexus does is incredible investigative journalist work and they should be celebrated for it. I’d have had no idea about this had they not done the work they did. Fuck Google, for sure, but let’s not toss the baby out with the bathwater.
Privacy is really more a spectrum than anything. A spectrum of what are you willing to deal with and how much is it going to impact your life. At least that is how I see that. Anyways, on that note, fuck LG.

1·3 days agoIs Sable worth getting into? My friends and I have been using Element for a hot second now and it works good enough for us. Like if it does everything we need, so how is Sable better?

21·5 days agoMoved onto Matrix a while ago because of this. Gonna be real, Discord is better but all Matrix asked me for was hardware verification. I fucking hate this ID verification thing. Like we are going to see a sharp spark in identity theft going forward.
…and shit, I might be part of it. I had to verify with an ID to get my CompTIA tests, which I passed. I am still arguing with Pearson to delete my personal data, but I might be in the shitter with all the others getting their identity stolen.

48·1 month agoIt’s why I moved onto Lemmy. I can’t stand new Reddit.
I’m familiar with that, but that is just for passwords. For the Nexus breach, how can I know if my own ID was in that? Am I just cooked, chat?
