I drive a delivery truck around the city for a living and watch taxis “drive” all day, I wouldn’t piss on them if they were in fire I don’t value them.

Oh yeah, I don’t think either are great, but at least Uber didn’t require drivers to submit to some crazy legal Ponzi scheme while paying for special driver’s licenses and competing with other drivers for the good shifts on a shared taxi licence. The Taxi mafia lobbied my city pretty hard and now Ubers get the opportunity to lose money to a middle man too! I’ve seen a bunch of taxis straight up also driving for Uber throughout the city.

Taxi drivers in my city also have something else Uber drivers don’t- a licence that was bought decades ago and is limited to a certain number, they never expire and can be bought and sold between private parties and you end up with one asshole who owns a bunch and rents out the licenced car to drivers who pay him a rent. It’s a pretty hardcore mafia and predates on immigrants.

They are also fucking maniacs who almost kill people every day with their reckless driving, but Ubers do that too.

I Always thought he just wanted to flush xitter, it never occurred to me that he was actually trying to succeed.

Ah! That goes to show how our local experience shapes our definition of things. Is the malt syrup or honey more traditional (I’m guessing honey but you never know)?

I recently, as a lifelong montrealer, spent a few days in Manhattan and tried the bagels. Montreal bagels have this kind of faint aroma you get from the honey in the dough that I just didn’t find in New York bagels, the flavor of the new York bagels was much closer to bread but the texture was great. Also, maybe a New Yorker could answer this, but were they always so big with almost no hole or is that a development from them being used for sandwiches?

How about a young guy with truly progressive ideas? I find it hard to believe no one ever gains enough traction with social media the way it is, or maybe it’s because social media is the way it is. Or maybe people like that just don’t get into politics.

Pretty much the textbook definition of induced demand. The extra lane will speed it up and the road between will become an absolute traffic nightmare in a couple years. Really sad watching habit keep us making the same mistakes over and over again.

All natural deodorants and antiperspirants ARE scams. Regular deodorants are what pretty much everyone needs, regular antiperspirants don’t get rid of odor and stopping your sweat glands is probably fucking terrible for the human body.

People will probably study this phenomenon for a long time to come, but people become wildly fanatical when a person in power shares their bigoted views and people in power can’t seem to resist turning it up to 11 because those types of fans make you feel like an absolute god.

Maybe from her POV being famous for writing the books became mundane, but all these people suddenly treating her like she’s a sociopolitical genius probably hits that reward button so well she just can’t stop taking another hit.

I don’t trust the government, but if I look something up and come to the same conclusions, so be it. I don’t listen to the internet, or Joe Rogan style propagandists. Cuba repossessed land that foreigners in the US (Florida) were making money off of so they could support their own people. The dispossessed Americans turned this into a voting issue and have had the US leadership by the balls over it since. Other countries in the region who want to suck up to the US uphold the embargo on their end as well. This keeps Cuba in a constant state of extreme poverty. It’s violence.
