I mean liberals can be collaborators. I don’t know why you’re treating those as separate categories.

Obvious to some maybe but the NYT publishing a piece about the imperial boomerang seems somewhat significant. It feels like more and more liberals are being radicalized by this administration.

382·2 days agoGlad the unions are getting involved but what’s this weak ass shit about it being one day? The whole point of a strike is you do it until they negotiate and meet your demands. One day won’t achieve much.
But to be clear everyone should participate, it’s better than nothing. We should get other states to participate too.

Yeah we should be focused on the backup plan. The only one I can come up with is millions gather in DC and physically remove these people from office. But I’m open to other ideas.

9·7 days agoWithout a change in congress I have no idea what he could possibly do to get republicans to do something. It’s literally a cult. He could come to their houses and rape their kids and they’d be out there the next day explaining how this is good for America, actually.

World News@lemmy.world•Protests erupt in Iran's capital after exiled prince's call; internet cuts out soon afterEnglish
12·7 days agoIt’s totally ridiculous to suggest that there are no leaders remaining in a country of almost 100 million. There surely religious figures, protest organizers, local heads of community, literally anyone would be better than a monarch. Or if there is truly no one then I have to believe a better exile exists who is not so clearly a Western puppet and with the same toxic baggage. Or, worst case, let there be no singular leader. The protestors can choose delegates for a council of leadership. Even no experience is better than such a dangerous outsider.
There no point in overthrowing the government if what replaces it will be no better.

22·7 days agoI mean his only qualification for leadership is he’s a prince. If you can’t see that alone is a risk of reinstating monarchy I don’t know what to tell you.
Surely there is a better option, someone who has actually done leadership work on the ground in Iran, not just spend his whole life whining about his birthright and being a tool for fascists.

4·8 days agoYeah it’s too bad we don’t have clearer video. Like if you watch carefully and thoughtfully, it’s pretty obvious what’s happening but if you’re motivated to lie to yourself, the view is just obscured enough that the deception can survive.
Like a lot of longtime BLM people were puzzled that George Floyd was the one to break the dam of public outrage because things like that happen all the time. But the difference is it was documented so clearly, so intimately, that there was simply no possible justification. We may need a moment like that to break through with ICE and unfortunately I’m not sure it will be Renee Good just because we had bad luck with the camera angle.

The irony here is that utilities and states that have been dragging their feet on closing their coal plants might get hammered by these costs to keep them open. Meanwhile those who have long since closed their plants will be unaffected. I’ll be curious to see how this affects electricity prices.
