Yeah my understanding of the ID situation in the US is certainly flawed. It seems labyrinthian to me at times due to all the different state ordenances. Although nothing compared to the US health care system. Jesus Christ. One thing I’ve learned here is that freedom certainly isn’t free.

Also non-american here who lives in America now though. I was also confused about the backlash to voter ID back then (this is a VERY old issue) as in Germany you are required to show your ID when voting.
It has been explained to me that most Americans do not have ANY form of identification other than their drivers license. There is no personal ID you are required to possess like in Germany. The vast majority of Americans does not have, nor will ever have, a passport. Driver’s licenses are cheaper to obtain than in Europe, but you still have to provide a host of documents many poorer people might not be able to provide + you need to pass a driver’s test of course to get it. There are a lot of people who for one reason or another can not do that.
In other words, if you don’t pass a driver’s test in the US, you might as well not exist. There is still the “social security number”, but that one is NOT MEANT to be a form of identification, plus immigrants without citizenship can also obtain them (I should know, I have one). I don’t think a common driver’s license counts for voter ID’s purposes under that proposal, so the way to identifying yourself as a citizen is even more limited. There is a REAL ID program in some states, but not others. You also get that from the DMV, which again is just the motor vehicle office. It’s really fucked up here. All of it. A solution would be to require citizen ID’s like its done in Europe, but the government doesn’t want to pay for that and Americans are usually against something like that (“government overreach wah wah what’s next, chips in my skin???”). So…hm.

If it is determined without a doubt that he’s an Agent, the government he spied for will be contacted to see if there are any deals to be made. If not, he will simply be prosecuted and jailed for later use. The fact that he is prosecuted and why will be made public, but the actual prosecution not for national security reasons.
Alright this is knee-jerk speculation, but the only reason I can think of for the FBI collecting evidence like this (the moving boxes) and the university not saying anything, is because it was determined Prof. Wang is a Chinese agent. It’s very unlikely ICE would come after professors, could do it silently, and someone in an area of expertise that is highly sought-after would be deported at all. And they wouldn’t include the FBI either.
…and that would matter if he was dependent on votes by an electorate. He is not.

Statements like yours incite me quite a bit, because I’ve used to say the same thing. “Boomers will die out soon and then we get to take over”. That was 30 years ago. It got worse, not better.
Getting rid of the electoral college would be a good first step. It would still be less than 1% of what needs to be done, but a step in the right direction nonetheless.
You’re getting blackpilled because your scope of what liberal democracy is is incredibly limited and almost childish. Student loan forgiveness? Recognizing Palestine? Those are useless carrots dangled in front of you that do not materially change the country or even count as policies.
If you want to lock out authoritarians for another 100 years and have a real democracy you need to think bigger and grow up. Fundamental voting procedures need to be overhauled. The judiciary needs to be completely removed and then reinstated with additional safeguards against partisanship. Return to a gold standard and abolishment of stocks. Yes, the entire stock market. Quite frankly the entire constitution needs an overhaul to a degree where the old one should just be tossed into a fire and the flag changed afterwards to reflect all these changes to the country.
THAT is what is needed. To remove FUNDAMENTAL and ENDEMIC problems that have been plaguing this republic for 200 years now!
But instead of thinking about that, you just prefer some free money in the form of debt forgiveness. And that’s why Trump won and he and his successor will keep winning for the foreseeable future.
