To be fair power users tend to be terrible with social skills. But you are right that this is essentially just linux users bragging that they learned something difficult. Power users also tend to be awful teachers so that might be part of the frustration on both sides.

AMD cards are so much cheaper right now, it makes a big difference. Second hand market cuts prices in half too. Places do certified refurbished as well.

The other stupid part is that these companies are training their developers to create AAA games, and then firing them. They take this knowledge elsewhere and the investment is lost.
