Another place I frequent got rid of the downvote so if people actually disagree with you they have to use words to make their point. Kinda funny how that solves a lot of issues.

I find them online and use javascript to rip them into a text file and use @Voice premium on android to read/listen to the text files. I got the premium @Voice because I didn’t realize how much of a staple having an app that can read most types of files was going to be.
Wait, you mean you don’t like how algorithms and ads have evolved to almost be content at this point. You don’t want a bunch of for-profit ads suggesting you buy things you don’t need? Lol, you’re not in it for the cash grab? :OOOOO WHAT!?!?!?!?!
I was a fan too, but lost the portable version I was using when my usb died. The version I pulled off git now freezes every 10 seconds and closes itself down a lot. Not sure how they made it worse but it’s worse now.
It’s alright for translation. As an intermediate dev, being able to translate knowledge into languages I’m not as familiar with is nice.
Cheers, still use forums for very granular info. I think it’s more of a scale issue. If you put the volume of users on these niche forums as are on reddit/lemmy, I think the multi-post nonsense would ensue. I remember having to tell a lot of people to use the search in forums. Sounds similar.
Ah, I see what you mean. I feel like that adds a lot of moderation overhead though because it needs people there to stop nefarious grave-digging.
He would have never guessed that I was at lemmy.world first. lol, probably would have broke his brainwashing to acknowledge another user as a human being he would have to consider the opinion of. Just pretend everyone’s out to get you for reasons other people made up for you. Back to sleep little one.
No need to waste energy making a real point then, lol people here just make shit up and then posture as if it makes them right somehow. Look, I’m doing it! No need to actually have any basis for my opinion that no one asked for! :D damn Armok: God of Blood HOW DID I NOT THINK OF THIS BEFORE!?! Lol wait, accidentally asked you to think critically. lol. My bad, carry on.
What chain of logic lead you to that conclusion?
Think those are just called forums?
Yep, when I get sick of the rhetoric here I just jump over to hexbear where they make fun of the people I tend to disagree with frequently here. . I think the best moderation tools would be to attempt to decentralize it so the petty tyrants the role seems to attract can’t abuse their authority to censor opinions they don’t agree with regardless of whether or not the content actually conflicts with the rules.
It’s like if Facebook, Reddit, and Twitter all had the capacity to import content from each other. Then add in that most of the Fediverse’s "facebook, twitter, and reddit"s aren’t run by centralized institutions. You can sign up for an account with any of them, but the administration of the one your account is on gets to decide which other sites content it wants to import. If you don’t like the way the admins are deciding on content in one, you can again start your own or just hop to another one. The Lemmy instances are forum like in nature similar to reddit, Mastodon instances are like twitter.

Thank you for the terms. Couldn’t find them anywhere. Made it hard to fit my comments in with communities not realizing this was the meta.
I used Heimdall when I was self-hosting in the cloud for a bit. Didn’t have any issues.
are just interested in Twitter news.
From the way I’m interpreting that… shouldn’t that demand for ‘just twitter news’ lead to a new community for that specifically? Like if it’s really that interesting to enough people, wouldn’t that be the better outcome?
Better ban school too. I hear that’s how kids find drug dealers.
Yep, it’s an easy fix. There’s better ways to get information about events that matter to you than corporate sponsored fear-mongering… I mean “the news.”
You probably wreck in chess. :)
