Tl;Dr is that the SKG drama made drama farmers on YouTube look closer at him and discover that he’s an egotistical piece of shit that lies to make himself look better, and he’s basically the new yandere dev with his game heartbound (making little to no progress over 10ish years while blaming the community for not being grateful/recognizing his genius/etc.).

1·2 个月前Other commenter got it. 200 hours is just JUST to get through the main story that unlocks the other stuff. The “other stuff” is like 95% of the content and the main story is just the barrier to entry.
Sounds like an edge case
Honestly can’t comprehend why anyone would make alts aside from access to additional retainers for free and maybe playing across data centers, but playing the main story is a fucking GRAND EPIC ADVENTURE that takes about 200 goddamn hours. You will literally never run out of things to do on one character in ff14. Ever.

I think “destiny is already dead” would be more accurate. I’ve introduced players to the game across multiple eras of destiny and it’s only gotten harder. Last one they asked what to do next and I just said “fuck if I know, what’s the map say?”
For a game that is increasingly inaccessible to new players, the only thing to do is fall off, and the monthly player count reflects that. It could maybe be saved if they un-vaulted everything and stopped monitizing the fuck out of it, but even then it’s lost too much blood.
