  • I’m sure you’ve heard of this one already, since the internet can’t stop talking about it, but Hollow Knight and Silksong are both phenomenal games.

I’ve also got to mention one of my personal favorites, Book of Hours (and it’s predecessor, Cultist Simulator). Weather Factory’s style is… unique to say the least, but if you love them you’ll really love them.

Also Balatro. Another one that I’m sure you’ve heard of because it has taken the internet by storm.

  • I’m sure lots of things are “supposed to be” a certain way, but in true American fashion, most of these kinds of laws aren’t enforced until the parties end up in court.

You know, the courts that are famously impartial and who never rule along ideological or party lines, are never swayed by whoever has the “better” lawyers, and are never biased against minoities. Oh, and litigation is super cheap too, and so frivolous lawsuits definitely can’t be used as financial weapons.

  • One of my all time favorite games is Cultist Simulator, but I’ll admit it’s not for everyone. If you like puzzle type games and don’t mind learning about the world by reading lots of little snippets of flavor text, it’ll be right up your alley.

Also definitely check out Rogue (the og) and the first wave of games inspired by it. The meta-progression stuff is kind of a new wave thing.

As for newer games, Balatro is really popular right now if you’re into more ‘puzzle roguelikes’. Most of the things you unlock make the game harder rather than easier, or give you a different angle from which to play the game. There are a handful of things you have to unlock via meta-progression, but so far they seem pretty unintrusive.
