True. That said, another comment has claimed that some smart TVs seek out open wifi and use that. Not a big problem in my area though.
This is a man who knows how to gling. He is glinging. Yesterday, he _____.

My current TV is an old one I got from a friend of my dad when he got a bigger one. It’s a bit glitchy, but it’s not smart, and that’s what matters.
Smart TVs can also scan the input from their hdmi ports and relay that to advertisers.
The study also showed that certain species are more susceptible to different kinds of light. Some of them are more likely to orbit under the light, some of them are more likely to orbit above, etc
To be fair, they are stuck for as long as they want to go straight. At any point they can decide to turn in some other direction that might take them away from the light, at which point they escape the light trap. However, they are burning calories while circling the light that they could be using for pollination
Tbh if my kid came up with something like that, I would not stop bragging about it to teachers and other people with a psych background
That is a very good point. My concern is that some of these bugs are pollinators, and spending god only knows how long circling that light is wasting time and energy they could be using to pollinate
I am assuming that somebody in their community saw the bugs going in fairly consistent circles, thought about what they were doing, and used common sense to decide that the bugs were trying to keep the light in one side of their body for some reason.
It does solve the problem of “why don’t insects all try to fly into the sun?” which the warmth-seeking hypothesis didn’t explain
The previous (barely tested) model was that they were actively trying to fly to the light. Previous research tested what qualities of the light caused the behavior, but there was very little research into what exactly was going on in their tiny bug brains that made them do that.
That just sounds like making a metaphorical hell literal
Its literally the second reason I wanted Zorin OS.
Thank you, very cool!
Thank you for actually answering my question 🙂
Do you have to crack them in half and shake them a bit first before they start glowing?
What’s a glowie
I strongly reccomend Zorin OS. I was in his exact shoes when I decided to switch to Linux and for very similar reasons. It feels pretty similar to Windows 7 IMHO, and I like its default dynamic background that changes throughout the day. Steam games run great on it btw.
The other reason I reccomend Zorin is that it is aimed at windows users and Mac users. There’s an “app store” that is in fact a software manager, most windows apps run pretty well (although I reccomend using Bottles for that) and the layout is designed to feel similar to Windows. All the fun Linux stuff is still right there for you to use, it’s just slightly out of sight so it doesn’t overwhelm you at the beginning.
Microsoft is the suits. Suits are for office work. Microsoft is for office work.
Mine doesn’t work. Definitely linux’s fault that I destroyed its wifi giblets while moving my PC a bit too aggressively
