I know bigots will be bigots but it really annoys me that they blindly think being queer is political but need proof that war is political.

7·1 month agoActually Deepseek’s having a resurgence because of their Engram module which is truly novel.
It’s not so much that Deepseek is a flash in the pan but more like they do some cool new thing and everyone copies their work while they recede back into their research.

politics @lemmy.world•Who entered Epstein's jail tier the night of his death? Newly released video logs appear to contradict official accounts.
11·3 months agoThe annoying thing is conspiracy just means a multiple people orchestrating crimes together, conspiring with each other.
But the word conspiracy also means a fake conspiracy, which is a real “inflammable means flammable” type situation.
I’ve often heard that the delegitamizing of the idea of conspiracies is itself a conspiracy to get people to think conspiracies don’t happen, which I fully believe.

Games@lemmy.world•The developers of PEAK, explaining how they decided on pricing for their game. English
6·3 months agoThen I’d have to also tell you to never play a game or buy a product ending in 99 cents. Getting into the mind of the consumer is business 101 and is literally the difference between a game/product having any success or not.
And this has been proven, JCPenney tried to get rid of 99 cent pricing and led to losing 30% profits and bankruptcy. The people who want fair and square pricing won’t be there to actually buy it.

8·4 months agoThe data has more direct consequences when it comes to machine learning algorithms to keep you on the website and funnel you into a personalized echo chamber.
The epitome of this is TikTok, it’s algorithm was the only thing that set it apart from other short video apps. Youtube is a video host with an integrated recommendation algorithm, Tiktok is a recommendation algorithm with integrated video hosting.

Technology@lemmy.world•AI boom could falter without wider adoption, Microsoft chief Satya Nadella warnsEnglish
10·4 months agoFundamentally due to it’s design, LLMs are digital duct tape.
The entire history of computer science has been making compromises between efficient machine code and human readable language. LLM’s solve this in a beautifully janky way, like duct tape.
But it’s ultimately still a compromise, you’ll never get machine accuracy from an LLM because it’s sole purpose is to fulfill the “human readable” part of that deal. So it’s applications are revolutionary in the same way as “how did you put together this car engine with only duct tape?” kind of way.

10·4 months agoI work at a school and I received training that explicitly told us zero tolerance does not work, made me do a double take. So in at least the northern states things are changing for the better.

5·4 months agoI don’t know if VScode Copilot defines MCP differently but it’s more about giving the llm api access to do things. Like letting the llm make github git commits for example.

3·1 year agoI’d say this is the case for mammals and birds, but I think other branches of the tree of life are more hit or miss since they’re less social animals.
I’d be curious to see a study of empathy on octopi, the smartest non-social animal.
Sure would be a shame if people mass produced AI imagery to give false leads…

41·1 year agoI ask it for help when I’m unfamiliar with a library/language or if I’m getting complex errors.
But I always type out the code myself, making sure I’m reading each line and understanding what’s happening.
Even for boilerplate if you just let the ai go at it, it’ll generate a Frankenstein boilerplate of an outdated standard.
