  • Where did I say it made me angry that others like Nintendo? I’ve literally owned every single Nintendo console and have the Smash edition Switch. I’m saying their games are boring and very low effort a lot of the times these days. Zelda is the exception. What other critically and commercial successful first party titles do they have, besides Zelda and Mario? The last few Pokemon games have been the definition of low effort and have bombed critically. Smash was fun but the online was so bad it would have been better off just not even having it. I’m saying Nintendo is a shadow of their former glory and wish they would get their shit together and stop making games exclusively for little kids. They weren’t always the children’s game developer. I adored the NES/SNES/N64/GameCube. They just are kind of a parody of themselves at this point.

  • FTC leaks show that Xbox is third in what? Sales? Because the Switch isn’t even the same generation as the Series X - it’s way behind in terms of power. Even if we’re just talking console sales, the Xbox hasn’t been constrained by hardware in almost a decade. The Xbox environment and Game Pass have completely revolutionized gaming for myself and millions others. Sure, I have a Series X and PS5, but I haven’t even turned either on in 6 months. I game on PC, but usually through Xbox Live because they’re at the forefront of crossplay (pretty much invented it) and I can play with friends in discord, Xbox One, Series X, Steam, whatever with no problem.

The NES, SNES, N64, and GameCube all powerhouses that directly competed with or were even more powerful than their competitors. They only started neutering themselves with the Wii. Online gameplay on GameCube was great. The Wii was the start of them no longer focusing on power. The WiiU was just a mistake, and the Switch was obsolete before it even released.

Nintendo makes gang busters because they focus on catering to young children. The last Pokemon games were some of the most financially successful games of all-time IIRC, but they’re also awful glitchy cash grabs that pretty much everyone hated. Smash and Mario Kart keep the adults coming back, but there’s several alternatives to both these days. I don’t know any serious gamers that even consider Nintendo to be a serious option these days.

I’ve got a Switch. Bought it for Smash. After the glitchy online nightmare that was Smash Online, I haven’t touched it since. It’s been sitting on a shelf collecting dust until my toddler daughter is old enough to play it. Nintendo is a joke of a company these days and a shadow of their former glory. Don’t even get me started on how litigation-happy they are anymore.

It’s 2023: why don’t we have a Skyrim style Pokemon game, or even a fully 3D Pokemon game, for that matter? Nintendo knows their fanboys will gladly accept any dogshit they shovel their way, and then ask for seconds.

    ITT: Linux users in denial.

Linux will never be anywhere close to plug and play for anything in the way Windows is, whether we’re talking games, applications, AD, etc… At least not for a very, very long time. Windows has about 40 years of development and is tried and true by the masses worldwide. You don’t have to be a master level 1337 h4xor to do anything in Windows, while you can’t do about 70% of what you can do on Windows with Linux without being an advanced power user.

Linux is great for some stuff, but unless there’s massive upgrades to where you can just hit “install” and something installs and works without fucking around in terminal, it will never see widespread adoption. Hell, half of my users can’t even figure out how to use a goddamn Mac, and that’s much more user friendly than any Linux kernel. You guys are delusional if you think otherwise.

Also, I’ve yet to see a single Linux kernel that is aesthetically pleasing on anywhere near the level of OSX or Windows 11… Or Windows 10… Or hell, 7, 8, and Vista lmao. Looks like a potato OS that was mocked up for some shitty low budget SyFy channel movie. Every single kernel I’ve ever seen. Even the ones that supposedly are “so nice looking bro I swear it looks better than 11 bro please why isn’t anyone switching to Linux don’t you guys want to learn a programming language to play games seriously bro it’s so easy it just works bro broooo.”

Have you ever checked out Ark? Not quite a true MMO, but it’s the closest I’ve ever gotten to feeling that “brand new to EverQuest” feeling. The worlds are massive, full of a massive amount of different dinosaurs, and the base-building is robust. Highly, highly recommend.

I have an Ender 6, which is a super common printer. Not on the same level as the 3.

Voron isn’t an application, though. It’s a type of printer.

Novel or bespoke printer? Not sure what you’re talking about, but it’s supposed to be universal firmware. There are plenty of guides out there and folks running Klipper on all sorts of printers, including mine. They just aren’t well-written, or aren’t written for beginners, or assume you’re a pro that doesn’t need anything explained.

This is exactly what I’m talking about with the 3D printer community. I’ll say one thing, and then someone will say something completely unrelated in response, like you just did.

I ask, “Hey, can anyone with (insert my specs here) show me their Klipper config or Slicer profiles for reference?” and I get 100 responses asking me why I’m using the hardware I’m using, recommending me other hardware that they like, telling me to use a different slicer that they like better, telling me if I don’t tell them my issue or show them pics of my prints they can’t help me (I never asked for help with prints, just to look at someone’s config with similar hardware), downvoting me for not already being a 3D printing pro, and just generally being unpleasant and literally answering anything but my question.

I work in tech. I’m used to Googling answers, hitting up forums, digging through old posts, etc. It’s about 50% of how I get my job done. There is something fundamentally wrong with the majority of the 3D printing community.

Not bashing this community specifically, as it’s too new to judge and so far people seem helpful and nice, but this is a problem I run into everywhere I turn to for assistance, like GitHub, Reddit, Printables, and various other manufacturer forums. The 3D printing community is pretty dogshit.

Let’s make this a much better community than literally everywhere else (which shouldn’t be difficult at all). When you post your setup, post your full specs with your firmware config and slicer settings. Is there a way we can tag ourselves or add a profile/signature? Maybe we can even put links to our specs.

So much of the 3D printing community seems to want to kill it by scaring off all newcomers. We can make this place the definitive stop for 3D printing knowledge, questions, and configs, but it’s going to take the work of some mods and the entire community to get there.

Share knowledge like the rest of the tech enthusiast world. Your Klipper config isn’t some super secret proprietary code for your eyes only. You don’t have to guard it like it’s your virginity. This hobby is going to die outside of super corporate builds with zero after market parts or builds like the Bambu X1 if the 3D printing community as a whole doesn’t learn how to share and not be a dick.

  • Klipper is great… Once you get it working. Way better than Marlin, but good luck getting it to work.

I swapped my motherboard for a BTT Manta + CB1 + EZ2209 drivers. Took about 7 months to get it to a state where my prints are regularly okay. Every 3D printing community I’ve come across is less than helpful, and all Klipper documentation is written like you’re already at a pro level, as does pretty much every other guide out there. People will swear it’s so easy, but you know what helped after 7 months of tinkering? Myself just throwing everything I have at my config in hopes of something working.

What kind of printer do you have?
