Ahh that makes the comment I was replying to make way more sense. Didn’t fully realize the extent to which Israel is founded on ethnic superiority

Honestly I’m ill-informed on christofascism, where should I read up on it?
I didn’t think the republicans that have control over our relations to Israel would be ardent on fulfilling biblical narratives. I thought they use Christianity as an excuse and a tool to garner support among uneducated protestants. The typical republican lawmaker doesn’t understand or follow Christian scripture
Kind of unrelated but where do you get your point about republicans wanting to deport Jews to Israel? I’ve never thought about it that way. I thought (in very basic terms) both democrats and republicans supported Israel because it’s a strategic location in the middle east and it’s profitable.
Israel is only 75% Jewish 🤷
Obviously they’re trying to be an ethnostate and like to commit genocide. But it’s not like they’re doing that purely bc it’s only one group of people within their borders.
That’s capitalism for you.
I think those gilded age people were still basing their beliefs on a very old idea of what wealth is supposed to be. The elite of Ancient Greece and Rome who would often fund public works projects. The gilded age industrialists really wanted to show the rest of the world how powerful they were. America wasn’t the same global power it was today and they were proving to the “old world” that they could rival them in beauty and wealth.
Modern billionaires have started to realize that if they controlled the government more than their predecessors, they could make more money. Their version of public works, museums, and gardens is a restructure of their role in society so they can become kings.
Idk- from by (basic) understanding of capitalism, once the market is saturated you need a spacial fix in order to keep extracting profit.
I think free trade would benefit capitalist economies since it would allow for easier expansion into new markets. Correct me if I’m wrong though cause I don’t know that much about economics and theory behind all this
I’ve never seen anyone take the angle of Trump’s tariff policy being anti-capitalist and I don’t understand why. He’s disrupting free trade which is a foundational aspect of a global capitalist economy, why isn’t his party mad about that?
Also this article was fucking terrible
Besides the absurdity of this, who gets to decide the name of a geographical feature?
If this were to actually happen wouldn’t it mean literally nothing? Like maybe officially in the USA it would be referred to by its new name but why would other countries follow? And I get that that the USA does a lot in the Gulf, but from my [very basic] understanding most of it is international waters.
Could legislation be proposed to rename the Atlantic Ocean? And if so wouldn’t that just end up with the USA following strange semantics other countries don’t?
Yeah it just surprises me that so called capitalists and billionaires would put racism above money. Especially since illegal immigrants are working for basically no pay. Maybe they have an end goal where the disposable work force is entirely black ie return to slavery or close to it
