  • The cause of Sophie’s APD diagnosis is unknown, but her audiologist believes the overuse of noise-cancelling headphones, which Sophie wears for up to five hours a day, could have a part to play.

    So fucking stupid…

Kid grew up on a quiet farm in the countryside, then she moved to London and probably 100+ student plus lectures.

It’s not that noise cancelling headphones prevented her from developing normally, she developed in an environment like what we evolved to handle.

Then she got thrown into a cacophony of sound that is one of the planets largest/busiest cities…

And they act like she is the problem and not noise pollution?

    https://www.nature.com/articles/s41370-024-00642-5

Noise pollution is fucking a lot of us up, and people who grew up with it are used to it, but that doesn’t stop the negative consequences of it. Someone that never had to deal with it is obviously going to have what looks like a sudden onset of a condition, but the person is fine.

    The environment is the problem.

  • This is what we need…

"I fundamentally believe that our party is grounded in the values, principles, and aspirations of the working class. As chair of the DNC, that belief will guide my decisions and approach in the years ahead. In contrast, in only his first month in office, it’s become abundantly clear Donald Trump doesn’t give a damn about the kitchen-table issues that matter to most Americans,” Martin explained in the memo. “Trump and the billionaire advisors he has surrounded himself with don’t give a damn about what it takes for a working family to put food on the table and keep a roof above their heads – let alone make a better life for themselves and their loved ones.”

Martin wasn’t my first pick, but I’m still happy he got it, and looking forward to Dems getting back to the FDR stuff over the neoliberal bullshit.

We need to be the anti-establishment party again.

  • Trump didn’t reshape shit.

When shit sucks, people go against the status quo.

Blame the dem party insiders who fixed the last three primaries to shove status quo candidates no one wanted down our throats. Practically while shouting “our else” in our faces the whole time. It worked once… When Trump was the incumbent so even Biden wasn’t the “status quo” candidate then trump was and he lost despite going against someone who couldn’t win a primary for 40 years

Then they honestly couldn’t figure out why they were losing the youth vote

Stop giving fascists credit for things the only other option keep fucking up.

The problem isn’t trump is some massive political force, it’s that people don’t have an option they actually want.

We haven’t run a good candidate for decades, neither party wants the election to be about how great their candidate is, just how shitty the other party is.

I get while Republicans do it, but the only explanation for Dems to do it is they’re playing for donations not votes, I just can’t believe they can blow thru a billion plus every four years and can’t do any better than this shit

Dems run national elections like a stepdad play Shoots and Ladders and desperately wanting the kids to like him, winning just isn’t even on the list of priorities.

  • Make the US people feel higher gas price

It’s why I spent four years saying rather than tax incentives for electric vehicles, we need to just level the playing field and take away gas subsidizes. But good luck getting either party here to hurt fossil fuel profits. Both our options this election were pro-fracking.

It’s fucking insane that we can’t socialize healthcare, but everyone needs to pitch in so Bill can drive his giant truck an hour to sit at a desk for 8 hours twice a day.

There is literally zero reason for gas subsidizes when we’re trying to get people to move on from gas.

LGBT has always been a target.

The “good guys” still (chemically) castrated one of their greatest minds that won the war for ten, just because he happened to like dicks.

Theres a reason people wanted to reduce the victims of the Holocaust to just being Jewish and ignored all the other groups that both sides wanted to persacute.

They did the same thing this time, target LGBT to build the movement and are now expanded to other groups.

Hopefully everyone stands up while we still have the numbers, otherwise they’ll keep chipping away fringe groups.

    Too fast, too furious…

    https://www.cnn.com/2013/08/27/world/americas/operation-fast-and-furious-fast-facts/index.html

The craziest thing cartels buying guns in America and smuggling them into Mexico isnt that the US government was selling to people they thought were smugglers.

It’s that the people at the gun store are doing the same shit people are doing all over the place.

The used gun market is insane, I know a couple people that constantly buy new guns and sell them less than a year later. They don’t question why some person is willing to buy $200 over new price for a used gun.

And the way the law is structured, that’s in their best interest.

If a random person walks up and asks to buy a gun, you don’t have to ask any other questions as a “private seller” and since you can only get in trouble if you know that person can’t own a gun, the less questions the better.

The “private sale” loophole makes every other gun law just a slight hassle to get around. But no one wants to actually close it.

    Edit:

    It also incentives those sales.

No gun store will pay as much as someone who can’t buy from a gun store.

So to make sure someone ends up with that can legally have it, the seller loses money.

  • Nah, after probation it’s pretty much impossible.

There needs to be like a year of documentation that the employee is just not doing their job.

    Because of the union.

That’s why there’s this big push to resign, every tool they have to reduce the federal workforce begins with the word “voluntary”. Probate employees and contracts have reason to be nervous tho.

Even closing USAID, it stops the work they’re doing, but they’re all gonna get huge severance checks or settlements if it really closes. It’s not like the private sector where it’s individuals fighting a billion dollar corparion. It’s multiple unions that are individually some of the largest in the country whose only reason for existence is knowing an incredibly confusing system of decades of regulations…

Versus a couple teenager and college drop out techbros with zero idea what they’re doing.
