lefaucet@slrpnk.netto Technology@lemmy.world•LibreOffice is right about Microsoft, and it matters more than you think.English21·1 month agoLacks key features? Like collecting telemetry data? A subscription model? Not for me.
And talk about shit failing our IT department spends way more time fixing MS bullshit than maintaining Linux machines. We use Fedora at the office and that is extremely stable and very secure.
When IT has to fix a Linux machine it"s because of an actual hardware failure
lefaucet@slrpnk.netto Technology@lemmy.world•LibreOffice is right about Microsoft, and it matters more than you think.English8·1 month agoI find dealing with Micros~1 a giant pain in the ass. It’s always getting in the way of productivity with pointless rearranging of menus all the time, constantly trying to get me to use One Drive, shoving AI into every corner of everything.
I’m trying to make a spreadsheet to figure out and share budgets, instead I’m spending my time hunting for that menu that disappeared and figuring out how to disable copilot because I’m legally not allowed to share client data with third parties.

lefaucet@slrpnk.netto politics @lemmy.world•Some Democratic senators regret voting to confirm Kristi Noem as DHS secretary1·3 months agoYou are probably correct. It should still be proposed. Get it on the record and get the country talking about her incompetence and psychopathy and how someone so unqualified ended up in that position
Embarrass the enablers as much as possible.
lefaucet@slrpnk.netto politics @lemmy.world•Some Democratic senators regret voting to confirm Kristi Noem as DHS secretary5·3 months agoIs there a route for impeachment? I’m sure it won’t go anywhere with the Republicans in control of house n Senate, but at least get it on the record and get the country talking about her incompetence and psychopathy and how someone so unqualified ended up in that position

I have IPs hitting from all over the world, trying logins all the time. Like several per minute, I can only imagine what it would be like if I wasn’t blocking IPs with multiple failed login attempts.

That last step of verifying is often being skipped and is getting HARDER to do
The hallucinations spread like wildfire on the internet. Doesn’t matter what’s true; just what gets clicks that encourages more apparent “citations”. Another even worse fertilizer of false citations is the desire to push false narratives by power-hungry bastards
AI rabbit holes are getting too deep to verify. It really is important to keep digital hallucinations out of the academic loop, especially for things with life-and-death consequences like medical school
Heh I had a girl Gecko me once… Good times

The possibility of me ordering a Tesla would require so much leadership refactoring at Tesla, I’m confident this is no longer a possibility.
To put it more sussinctly:
Fuck off with this bullshit ad headline. I wouldn’t touch these swasticars if they jerked me off nightly
In the late 90s you could get CDROMs from the nerds at university with everything you need on them. If you got your sound card working and could play an mp3, you felt like a master hacker who had beat the game.
It’s kinda a pain to use 'cause so many apps rely on Google services, so those need to be replaced with alternatives, but e/OS is installable and is supported by Fairphone
