I’ve bought a bunch of stuff, but never anything important or particularly expensive. Random crap like LED strip lights, screws, bearings, and springs for 3D printing projects, or even filaments. Never had any issues, but I’d still be apprehensive buying something more expensive.
I agree, and I think they should have been free to do what they wanted back then too.
The concept behind short-term multiplayer in a long game is pretty cool. The invasions and the jolly cooperation are fun features.

Breyer’s used to have ads specifically about how it was free from shitty ingredients. It only had cream, sugar, salt, and whatever the flavor was. Now, the list of ingredients is longer than on a shampoo bottle.
I don’t think it requires “actual food” sources. “Natural” strawberry flavour used to be made from beaver anal glands, which I doubt anybody would consider food.
ECC is meant for systems that can’t afford a single faiure, but standard memory is definitely meant to be entirely reliable as long as it doesn’t fail.
I know that sounds like a dumb statement, but when memory fails, it’s never a single occurrence. Anyone who has ever done memory tests on failing memory knows that either it’s 100% functional or complete garbage. If your memory is less than 100% accurate, the results are obvious. You’ll never run a memory test and see only one error at the end.
The -W and -H are the resolution you want to display at, so you want those to be your monitor’s native resolution. They default to 1280 x 720 if you don’t specify.
The -w and -h specify what resolution to render at, and are only really useful if using DLSS or FSR for scaling. Skip them if you’re not using that.

There are quality of life changes, mainly in the building, but overall it’s still the same game. Graphically though, it’s far superior, especially in terms of lighting.
I got the original really cheap so I didn’t feel too bad paying for a new version. What does piss me off though is that while they promised “all existing DLC maps” from the original will be free, they’re already releasing new paid DLC including dinos that are only available if you pay, in a still-early-access game before all the existing maps are released.
So while I enjoy the game, I can’t recommend it out of principle, especially to anyone who already owns Survival Evolved.
If you think that’s unwelcoming, applications are even more so. Most people don’t want to fill out an essay just to be allowed to participate.
If I had to fill out an application, I wouldn’t be here, and I’m sure a lot of others wouldn’t be either.
That’s not to say that better methods shouldn’t be implemented though.
