Android@lemdro.id•Android phones will soon reboot themselves after sitting unused for 3 daysEnglish
24·1 year ago3 days seems like a good “default” but I agree I’d definitely like the option to make it shorter.

3·1 year agoIt appears to be still working on old.reddit. I no longer have an account there, but occasionally check on communities I miss here and RES still seems to be chugging away.

19·1 year agoOne comment does not a whole commenter make! I’ve had a few cases where someone acts poorly on one post, but is usually a conscientious and interesting commenter. Personally, I want to see more conversation, so I’m hesitant to ban people, but if your math is different, that’s fine!
It looks like Cider is released as a Flatpak or AppImage. I’m not super familiar with building these/troubleshooting, but the error messages you are getting look like a poorly packaged app (Failed to load module “xapp-gtk3-module”).
IMHO, it’s just humans being humans. And while someone may excel in one or many areas, they’re often lacking in others. And we see it all out in the open with projects like this!

Technology@lemmy.world•Japan’s best-selling EV is the Sakura, an adorable kei car with bidirectional charging and 112 miles of range. Its cost: $17k. It can not legally be sold in North America. English
17·1 year agoSure, but even in the most orange-pilled places, there are still cars, and occasionally reasons to drive. And if individuals/small groups need to get somewhere inaccessible by bikes/public transit, etc., I’d rather they drive something like this instead of a vehicle that’s literally the size of a tank.
After a reboot all the data is encrypted and needs a pin/fingerprint to unlock.
Just to clarify, it needs a PIN/password to unlock after reboot. Biometrics like fingerprint aren’t available until the device has been decrypted.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Liberux NEXX Is a New (Still in Development) Linux Phone
1051·1 year agoA few points:
- LiberuxNexx sounds like a medication’s marketing name.
- It says “2TB storage” then in the details it’s actually 256GB + microSD support, which IMHO is very different.
- To me, this just sounds like a new version of the PinePhone Pro or Librem 5. Yes, it’s got newer & better hardware, but there’s no release date or even price.
A message even better when it’s delivered by a Canadian Treasure!

Technology@lemmy.world•Nintendo Switch 2 details: Screen size, controllers, storage, microphone chat and gamesEnglish
18·1 year agoIf you just want the tech specs and don’t want to read a full article, Nintendo has published a spec sheet.
I’m curious to see what the “Custom processor made by NVIDIA” is, partially to see what the Switch 2 is capable of, but also to see what Nvidia might put in other devices. (Can I hope for a Shield refresh?)
IMHO, you should consider doing more troubleshooting on Kmail. I’ve never used it personally, but from my understanding, it’s a stable program and shouldn’t have problems doing the basics of email, like you’re reporting.

Your response says, “not epaper” which is categorically wrong. I assume you meant to say “eink”
Yes! The best thing about Pebbles (IMHO) is how they handle notifications. In the specs, they list Nordic nRF52840 BLE chip (BLE stands for Bluetooth Low Energy)

41·1 year agoNothing in this article is talking about cold storage. And if we are talking about cold storage, as others gave pointed out, HHDs are also not a great solution. LTO (magnetic tape) is the industry standard for a good reason!
