Jesus, it’s like they want you to order online from a third party instead of paying them.

The argument I keep seeing against fast food being too expensive is “use the app! It’s cheaper”. Fuck that. I bought frozen junk food and an air fryer. McDonald’s can keep their 15$ meals*
*Disclaimer that I don’t actually know how much a meal is these days, but I know it’s gone way up. Also, I do still buy from McD when I need to shit out a hangover. Sue me.
Dunno why you’re getting downvoted, you’re 100% correct.
Most people aren’t on social media talking politics or thinking about any of this outside what they might overhear at church, from family/friends, on TV, shared on Facebook.
What if we were finally able to get insurance companies out of healthcare in the US? Thousands would lose their jobs, but millions would suddenly be able to get care. So much money would be saved, but so many people would suddenly be out of work.
I don’t know about you, but I hate paying several hundred dollars a month (and 100s or 1000s if I actually get care) to prop up a whole ass middleman between me and my care.
Anyway, my point is we can’t keep old systems only for the sake of preserving jobs. The guy you’re replying to is short sighted and relying too heavily on a language imitation program, but he’s essentially right about not keeping jobs just because.
You admit that you’re posting what are essentially lies in order to attract conservatives? Y’all really are just saying the quiet part out loud.
I fucking hope so? Tf else do these exist
I do SEO as my day job.
I’ve only ever done white hat, and it’s all about content relevance to user intent, creating a site that loads quickly and functions in an intuitive way, and is coded so that search engines can easily understand the site.
Of course the goal is almost always to get you to buy something, but all it really is is best practices for online publishing.
You want an argument in favor of not letting consumers repair things they’ve purchased?
That’s an extra 500/mo for me.
Factoring in needing to (re)buy office clothes/makeup/hair products, the extra time to get ready every day, commute with the time and money costs, as well as increased food costs?
Hard pass. That “extra” money is only going to pay for those extra costs.
Let’s look from a time perspective. Being conservative in estimating a typical commute (for my area) and getting ready time, that’s an extra 1.5 hours to my day. 500 a month over that extra 30 hours a week is 16/hr. Not terrible, but not worth it to me. I’m not going to trade 3 hours of my off work time for $48.
Now, if you’re willing to trade that time for that cost, I’ll def find 3 hours of chores around my place to hire you for!
There’s gotta be pressure for offices to open up so employees are forced to spend money on food/coffee/dry cleaning/whatever around the building itself too.
I feel for those businesses, but not enough to subsidize their existence when I don’t need it.
What’s the value of posting “fluff”? If you’re just trying to get engagement for engagement sake, why?
I’d check his post history before engaging. He’s trying to rebuild a spammy, dishonest right wing space in Lemmy.
He’s free to do so, but it’s just going to bring in trolls, bots, bad faith arguments, and extreme posting to sell shit.
I get that it’s inevitable, but let’s be careful what we’re encouraging.
In the eyes of a search engine, yes.
But once a site is popular enough for traffic and engagement to influence it’s position in search, it’s def going to be popular enough for bots, trolls, bad faith actors, grifters, etc.
Google isn’t thrilled with duplicate content. Following this thread here, it sounds like identical content might be hosted on multiple servers? If that is so, it’s not going to be high value in Google’s eyes.
If it’s indexed, you’ll be able to search it with Boolean modifiers, but it might not get priority in organic searches.
I don’t think lack of SEO is the issue. There’s just not enough content and brand/domain authority to get results from here high in SERPS.
There might be something fediverse related that would affect performance in search, but I’m not knowledgeable enough about this setup to speak to it.
I think it’s just lack of content, general awareness/interest, and longevity that’s keeping Lemmy low in search
I could see myself doing the same, but I only browse mobile. Without a decent app, it’s just not happening.
However, Lemmy now feels like the super early days of Reddit and I don’t want to give that up.
Just real conversations, normal comments, none of the repeated Reddit jokes in every thread, and minimal right wing trolling
We don’t want to be in the public eye. Let’s enjoy what we have while it lasts
Please do this, for science!
Thanks for the rec, this pod looks very interesting!
Grocery shopping and food prep is always an option. Cheaper and healthier too.
If you have time to browse Lemmy, you got time to throw some shit in an air fryer/insta pot/slow cooker.
