Technology@beehaw.org•Bluetooth tracker hidden in a postcard and mailed to a warship exposed its location — $5 gadget put a $585 million Dutch ship at risk for 24 hours
4·3 months agoI wouldn’t have governments do anything, except disband and decommission all military assets, but if I were somehow in that position then yes I would recommend providing secure devices. The cost is insignificant - just buy one less fighter jet.

3·3 months agoNo amount of infosec training will make your civilian iPhone secure. All I’m saying is that it’s weird not to issue secure phones to personnel.

15·3 months agoI can’t believe any military operation allows the use of unsecured phones by personnel. Always blows my mind.

Linux@programming.dev•Bazaar Is the Flatpak Store GNOME Always Needed
6·10 months agoBazaar on Bazzite has been slow and crashy for me.
It’s practically tradition for open source logos to be hideous I suppose.
Reaper, the daw mentioned in the post, also runs fine on Linux.

Aurora is a great choice given those parameters. I also installed it on my wife’s laptop and she hasn’t had any problems. I even edit video in Resolve on my Aurora thinkpad so I know the nvidia drivers are fine.
I use Aurora on my thinkpad, bazzite on my gaming desktop, and fedora on my desktop at work. Huge fan of what Universal Blue is doing.

14·1 year agoI know you’re probably joking but Rimworld plays great on Linux through Steam. I’ve played hundreds of hours and have loads of mods.
If you’re more technical or willing to learn I would recommend Frigate https://frigate.video/

191·1 year agoThat sucks, I’ve been there. I recommend dry, cheap, bulk rice and beans. They are the best in terms of calories per dollar that you can store for a long time. Powdered peanut butter is good too. We used to cook two cups of rice and one cup of beans together in a rice cooker with three cups of water and then season it with whatever cheap dollar store spices we had. Very filling meal. The peanut butter is dessert.
Check out Bazzite!
I was having a much better Christmas before I saw this AI slop on my feed.
