Da bewegt sich momentan alles in die falsche Richtung.

Zum Glück gibt es auch kritische Stimmen in den öffentlich-rechtlichen Medien: MaiThink X hat mal eine Sendung zu dem Thema gemacht (S3E1), Die Anstalt hatte die fehlenden wissenschaftlichen Prüfstandards zum Thema (Folge 64).

Isn’t that the same for Reddit or Lemmy? The content creators and mods don’t see a penny either. Operationally, a social network probably requires a lot more compute power and somewhat more bandwidth compared to a site that serves mostly static content. But I don’t see why small donations shouldn’t cover that. The cost per user seems moderate, otherwise few people could afford to run an instance with 1000s of users without charging them.

Wouldn’t that be an argument for right-to-repair? If the user has to buy another console because theirs broke, the company has made twice the loss for the same number of games bought (or fewer, because the user has less money to spend on games). Reparing looks like a win-win here.

Ich finde das spanische Modell ansprechend, wo jede:r zwei Nachnamen hat und den ersten an seine Kinder weitergibt. Traditionell wird der Nachname des Vaters zum ersten und der der Mutter zum zweiten Nachnamen, wobei manmittlerweile die Namen tauschen darf. Das neue Namensrecht kommt da schon ziemlich nah heran.

If they force messengers to implement backdoors into the protocol, I doubt they will limit it to UK users. Also, conversations with UK users won’t be private anymore even if the other party is from another country.

Client-side scanning might not be enforced for other accounts but when the infrastructure is there other governments will want to use it, too.
