I read something about right-wingers trying to claim that the 22nd amendment only says that nobody should be elected twice, so if Trump gets into office without getting elected, everything is fine. So their plan is to get someone else elected in Trump’s stead and that person should then just appoint Trump as the new president, because according to them, that’s apparently possible. And with their surpreme pile of garbage that they call a court, that might just work.

What do you define as a centrist in that context? From an European viewpoint, most democrats are right-wing politicians, some of them even far right. Bernie Sanders is the only one that comes to mind that could be seen as center-left.

There’s this idea I’ve been considering for a long time.

Imagine putting a remote controlled firework smoke bomb under the tailpipe, hidden from sight. At best a really stinky one that smells like burned rubber or something.

When someone follows to closely, just fake an engine issue or something by activating the smoke bomb and fill their AC air intake with the smell of burned rubber for weeks. Just to teach them to not follow too closely again.

That’s a fair assessment.

SLAPP suits are where a bad implementation of that system struggles. The US is a mess in many places and this is one. That doesn’t mean that the concept of rule of law is an issue, but that rule of law is implemented badly in the US.

The Nigerian understanding of religion is fascinating. They just take what they need from any place they want. In the western world most people stick with the faith they were born in, or maybe switch once or twice in their lifetime. In Nigeria it’s common to switch very frequently, always taking the parts they like best and leaving behind the rest.

And this is exactly how it should be. The decision whether a lawsuit has merit or not should be taken in court, not somewhere before court. Because that would mean that some police man or someone else with only cursory knowledge of the law would have to decide whether a lawsuit has merit and that would be catastrophic.

No, anyone should be able to sue for anything. And garbage lawsuits should be thrown out of court by a judge and/or jury.

10 years ago I got into RC planes for a summer, and me and the guy were talking about how ridiculous it is that the milirary is spending so much money on simple drones, when they could just strap some explosives on a cheap hobbyist RC plane/drone for a fraction of the price, and just create swarms of them.

The technology had been widely available for some time already back then. Turns out, it was just lacking a war to do so.

(Just to be clear, we were all anti-war in general, this was just idle speculatiok back then. But if our country was attacked at that time, I’m sure some of us would have ended in a newly created drone force like what happened in the Ukraine.)
