I got on the reservation list for a friend :) He didn’t even get on the wait-list, haha. But he had a smart plan to ask as many friends as possible to sign up and actually two of us were chosen. I am not even interested in Frame, I do have a Steam Deck, but otherwise I’m a console gamer and VR was never fun to me (I tried multiple headsets), I just like pancake games more.

I use Hetzner Storage Box. I don’t have a NAS, so it’s a cost that I’d rather avoid. I see it costs not much less than a new nvme disk. I’m just trying to juggle what I have.

I use Podman on my desktop, but only for that single container (I need Microsoft SQL Server for work). I know they are 99% compatible, including CLI syntax, but in that 1% cases things might break and thus https://selfhosting.sh/ is recommending to stick to Docker for newbies, because almost all tutorials are written for Docker. I don’t know, I might try with Podman, however I don’t really need a steeper learning curve if whatever setup guide for some service that I’m using is not compatible with Podman.

You’re not the first person to tell me not to add too many external repositories on Debian for the same reason.

Why from Docker’s repo and not from Debian’s? I just did a quick apt search docker and I see docker.io and docker-cli.

So, theoretically, I could run Proxmox on the VPS if it’s running Debian? I read that Proxmox requires a lot of RAM and VPSes are too expensive in that regard. But I might run Proxmox at home, I have a beefy PC with 64GB of RAM, except it doesn’t turn on right now (something died, either the PSU or the motherboard, I still need to have it diagnosed).

One thing I read about is that Ubuntu provides unattended updates, so it can automatically update packages and restart the server (that seems a bit too far ;) ). It’s probably possible on Debian but not out of the box.

I think there are two types of people who care. Collectors and resellers / buyers of used copies.

I play a mix of games, some digital and some physical. I don’t buy used copies (I, perhaps naively, believe that I support the developers by purchasing new copies — and by “support” I mean they can make more games that I like), but I sell the games that I have finished (well, most of them). I think I buy/play more digital games than physical, part of the reason is PS Plus / PS Portal.

However, I don’t like that Sony wants to abandon physical media. I believe customers should have a choice. Also, the digital versions are almost always more expensive than physical, and for years they’ve been misleading us into believing that digital distribution is supposed to be cheaper. Yeah, right.

If Sony controls all means of distribution, by cutting off physical media, they will further increase prices for games and subscriptions, because why not. Consumers will have no choice if they still want to play on their PlayStation.

Maybe OP is playing it off a cassette player like on C-64 ;)

I think that may be just Firefox… I feel like Vivaldi is snappier, but I still choose Firefox because it’s not Chromium. And uBlock works here :)

I did from Apple a few years ago after I bought a new Mac mini, but there was some issue with my Apple Care subscription and they helped me to sort it out. I actually had to talk to a real person on the phone from another country (Ireland) because they needed to escalate. But my issue was resolved and they were very helpful.

I was going to ask about that – how to delete my account if I get locked out and won’t provide my ID. It sounds like a real hassle. I had my LinkedIn account suspended for a long time now because I don’t find that website useful, but I still wanted to have options. This year I received a few emails from them telling me that some of my contacts solved some online quizzes on LinkedIn and that I should try. Who has time for online quizzes?! That must be the same type of person who plays Solitaire on their Windows PC. And also they are probably bored at their job, I’m not (quite the contrary).

Like KDE Connect which uses only the local network.

It was my personal GOTY 2025. Fantastic game. I actually liked it more than Bloober’s SH2R because of the setting, visual presentation, overall mood and music. I didn’t hate the combat, either.

My main issue with BotW is that there are no dungeons. Shrines are just small random puzzle games. Doing a dungeon in Zelda is part of the quest, doing shrines is doing puzzles for the sake of it to get points (Orbs) to advance your character with some numbers and bars. Only the Divine Beasts resemble traditional Zelda dungeons to some extent.
