DNS ad blocking doesn’t work on YouTube.

edit: Yes, I realize the irony of linking YouTube here.

My previous house apparently only existed because the neighbor of the building in the lot before it objected to the sexuality of the owners of said building and threw a molotov cocktail at it.
There was only one casualty of that event. Sadly, it was a cat.

I don’t know how to respond to that.

Maybe you’re my old co-worker.
Regardless, I appreciate the detail! Thank you for elaborating.

I don’t have any experience with “CFD results” but the two sound similar to me. The ellipsis might have made it seem sarcastic, but that wasn’t my intent.

That’s … Basically what they said.

I once worked tech support for people who ran physics simulations. They said that sometimes they had to rerun the simulations if they didn’t come back accurately. I asked how they could tell if they were accurate.
They said it was based on whether it felt right. I still hate that response, but I guess I can’t come up with a better idea, other than doing whatever they’re testing in real life.
Mine was in my native language, not Japanese, but I also had a job that mandated a long greeting. I also had cause to repeat it sufficiently frequently that I could have done so in my sleep. In fact …
Once I was at home, in bed, asleep. I had a dream that my work phone was ringing. Of course, I wasn’t fully awake (or really at all) and my work phone was at work, not near my bed. In my half awake state, I picked up the nearest thing I could find - my personal cell phone - and recited the long spiel. Only after several minutes of slowly blinking myself awake did I realize my cell phone wasn’t connected to anyone and, also, I wasn’t at work.
The only character I had engaged was my dog, who was staring at me in apparent confusion. Probably that was just because I had gone from dead asleep to jerking upright grabbing my cell phone, but I like to think that in his head he was thinking I was a dumbass for thinking I was at work.
I agree, it seems odd; however, I will state that my kid’s school provides an app that allows you to communicate in both directions with teachers. They also use the app to make general announcements like closure for snow, etc. My wife is generally the one doing non-in-person communicating so I haven’t actually used the app (I only recently learned it exists), but hopefully the teacher can filter notifications outside of school hours.
Were I a teacher, I’d be glad to have a way to communicate without sharing personal information.

Heterochromia! Very cute.

Fair enough. Thank you.

I’m not trying to be dismissive or critical of those who use a NAS solution. I’ve never used one myself, so maybe it really is amazing; but from your response it sounds just like an NFS (or perhaps samba) server with a web interface? I did try TrueNAS once and it basically seemed like that, but also with convoluted permissions.
Again, not trying to be dismissive or anything. Just trying to understand.

… Obviously …
I was providing information in the hopes of it being useful.

“Tip of my Penis”

I’m unclear on the benefit either has one just an NFS server.

I don’t disagree that it was insane!
But no, the reason is that I live in a decently sized old house in a cold area. We’ve dual zone climate control and I’m not sure either heat pump stopped running the whole month. I do run some servers but that’s true year round and most months my power bill is in various parts of triple digits.
A fact that I like to share from my personal history: I took four years to graduate from a two year college because I was taking every computer class they offered … Except that I skipped “intro to Unix” because when was I ever going to use that?
My entire career has been largely based on knowing how to use Linux.
