Programming@programming.dev•SlashData: Rust sees fastest growth, JavaScript still dominates
1·1 year agoHi, I don’t really code besides computation stuff in Python. You seem to be really knowledgeable, could I ask, what does the future of the web look like? Is it Rust and WASM? Or will JS and TS always have a place even a decade from now?
Anyone care to share their experiences with SUSE Enterprise Linux, or with the container focused OpenSUSE MicroOS? Looking to play around with it since it looks a lot more straightforward compared to RHEL (Red Hat looks great, just having trou_understanding their offerings as they have a ton) and hoped some folks knew a thing or two…

61·1 year agothey are controlled opposition in my opinion, if you follow the money (i.e. financed primarily by google to my knowledge) and look at their current diversification in service offerings they appear to be ‘privacy-washed’ or ‘ethics-washed’ (for lack of a better term, the equiv. of greenwashing or pinkwashing for tech corps to appear ethical or progressive) with a push to appear as a feature-complete ‘privacy respecting’ alternative to google.
in my opinion proton is doing the same thing, esp atm with their push towards non-profit status. openai (which is obviously not open in any sense od the word in the industry they operate in) is also i believe governed by a non-profit entity… or at least the for-profit part of their company is.
non-profit status with larger organizations i think like any other large organization is not worth taking at face value, but idk someone here prob has a better handle on it than i do…

not quite as bad as adobe, but they are among the worst
I used github pages, now I use codeberg pages. It’s nice I suggest you try it out (for static content like a blog, it’s great).

1·2 years agoUniversal Basic Income i’ll have to disagree with (not inherently, rather in nearly all proposed implementations), look into Negative Income Tax, which to my knowledge, was purported by Milton Friedman. A notable economist, known for Monetarism, and advising Reagan during his Reaganomics thing.
Yeah that would be a great idea. The piracy community on dbzer0 uses rentry.co, maybe that’s an option?

Programming@programming.dev•Blogging with Jupyter Notebooks in Hugo
2·2 years agoYeah, I like it quite a bit. I wanted to have 3D models of stuff I designed what could be interacted with and I think the capability to integrate existing libraries is there but it’s beyond my skill atm.
The blogging part is neat, I’m a big fan and the nature integration with R Shiny and R Shiny for Python is great.
