Depends on what your metric for “productive” is. If you’re producing more cars that have to all be recalled and fixed, you’re not making more money than you would had you made higher quality cars from the start, and you then also lose face and your brand is viewed as inferior, so sales drop, and the spiral goes brr.

I had one interaction with them, and they seemed so helpful and levelheaded. 🫣

Welcome, ye hordes!

She’s giving uncanny valley for me.

I knew he was a piece of shit from the moment I heard, decades ago, that he wanted twice the pay for playing “both” Clark Kent “and” Superman, as if they are two different characters.

Love this reply. One hundred percent agree. Well said.

Right, you’re a little more than a seasoned programmer, buddy. You are extraordinary.
You can’t expect “an operating system” or “a compiler” to be the bar for “doing anything ‘serious’” 😂

This dude federates
😉

any complete application
An OS, a compiler
Quite the hefty examples lmfao, holy hell. Guess all of us “regular” software engineers in the business are just plebs huh.

Define “serious”.

the ability to program
people without the knowledge of how that code works
Ain’t that the biggest oxymoron you’ve seen today.
They are not given the ability to program, per se, in my opinion. They are doing something else.
Maybe I’m misunderstanding your comment though. Not sure if you’re referring to the code output when you said “that code”, or some other code. Please let me know if I got it wrong.

Right, that’s what I was referring to in my comment. Games that load while playing to avoid loading screens between areas. 👍

lmfao what in the hell does the storage medium have to do with frame rate. You can’t really start rendering anything until you’ve loaded the things that should be rendered. And at that point the storage medium should be finished doing its thing.
If your frame rate depends on your storage medium, I would consider that a bug, lol.
Some games do streaming on the fly when you enter a new area to avoid loading screens for massive-world games like maybe the new Zelda games and GTA style games. But once the data is loaded, lay off the storage device.

I wish I got that.

What could go wrong

I think music is so much more than a tool.
Of course it is, I also listen to music other times when I don’t treat it as a tool, but for pleasure and entertainment. But I also use it at times only as a tool, that’s all.
So you don’t see any merit in current AI at all? Do you thin it will vanish like the blockchain fad?
I see plenty of merit in AI. AI has already been used to do really meaningful things for humans, such as in medicine, mathematics, etc, lots of stuff in the research fields and stuff.
But it’s very important to remember that the more work we offload to robots, the worse we’ll become at doing that work ourselves. Neural pathways deteriorate when not used. And I don’t want to become an expert in code review, because I don’t think that’s fun. I want to remain an expert in producing code. And when AI does the reviewing part, too, what the fuck am I left with? Being some kind of DevOp, orchestrating the agents of my laptop? That’s not fun for me.
Maybe in the future AI will actually be able to do quality code and quality software development methods the entire way from idea to production, but I want to code. I am a software engineer. It’s what I was trained to do, and it’s my craft.
It’s like asking someone who is into pottery for a living and has a small business where they do everything by hand, to give that up in order to make cheap ceramic/porcelain plates with no ornamentation, no soul, in a factory. They wouldn’t be interested. That’s me.

Act civil in the comments, dude.

Music is NOT a tool.
I use music as a tool to relax. If the music isn’t relaxing, I don’t like it, and I won’t listen to it. See how that works?
Its more like not using a screwdriver and using only a hammer. And that would be fine - if you only have nails.
No, it’s like using a jackhammer when you need a chisel. You have to repair most of the shit instead of doing it right the first time.
And you get progressively worse at using the chisel when you only use a jackhammer for everything.
Pollution?
