Megane wo Hazushite - You and I Are Polar Opposites OP
Disqualified as it came out in 2026.

Forgot that Guild Receptionist was last year. Such a gorgeous OP.

This absolutely wins the thread for most delicious looking MV.

If it’s something like a video game, then probably not. If it is just promotional for the anime, then sure.

Disclaimer: I read the manga through this point but haven’t watched the show.
The answer is resoundingly no. There was a period where it really feels like it was building to a climax and would have made for a decent conclusion (I think it was season 3, the movie arc). However, they quickly undid all the progress and the lead couple became even more infuriating. I ended up dropping the series shortly after what is depicted in this fifth season.

The version of this with the most views is sitting at ~45M views. I think that this is about as popular as I will go before disqualifying things as contravening the “international hit” rule. FYI to future nominations.

As many as you want, really. Just have each one be a separate comment. The top couple of vote getters from this thread will go to a finalist round.

Also be sure to check out !vocaloid@ani.social and the nomination thread they have going being run by @belluck@lemmy.blahaj.zone

Here’s the query I make to help build rikka’s table of upcoming episodes. So, the info is there, I just need to add some logic to consolidate episodes close together in time.
Aura has been a really interesting case to observe. Reading the manga as it has come out, Aura was really just a minor character, never placing too highly in the popularity polls that they did prior to the anime’s release. It wasn’t really until the anime that her popularity took off. Her story was very faithfully adapted, so I don’t think there is much of a story difference that can be ascribed to causing the difference in reception.
I am guessing the root cause is some combination of a different audience as well as the effects of being a really fucking good adaptation. The Frieren adaptation has been stellar, and the conclusion of Aura’s fight is no different. In particular, I think the OST added a lot to the end of that episode, both in the lead up to Frieren’s command and the lack of OST immediately afterwards.

It’s going to have to be something like that. The API can be inconsistent in how batch releases are handled. Most often in the past, it would just list the first episode with a release time and just not have one for subsequent episodes. This is the easiest for me to handle because I am just adding on additional episodes as needed manually. Lately, the API has started listing all the episodes with sequential airing times, meaning rikka makes a new post for each one.
So, if that is how the API is going to handle them going forward, I think I am going to have to build some kind of logic to merge episode threads that are within 24 hours or something like that.

Fixed. I am going to have to figure out some better way to handle this I think. Batch releases are becoming more and more common in the beginning of the season.

Meta comment:
In case you weren’t aware, there is a lemmyvision contest happening this year and I wanted to gauge interest among the community if it is something that they would be interested in participating in. It basically goes like this:
So, if we want to participate, we need to go through some kind of process to decide on a song from 2025 to submit. Here is my first thought about how to run this:
So, let me know if you want to throw our musical hat in the ring and start thinking about what songs from 2025 you would want to use as our submission.

Yeah…this was not a great adaptation if I am honest. The love meter gag, the whole point of the show, wasn’t even shown for some scenes (like when they are eating ice cream), and whole sequences from chapter 1 were cut. However, they made sure to insert an anime-original scene on the beach. I was really caught off guard when there was nudity in the show because it was not in the manga at all.
tl;dr - read the manga on this one. The art is better and the gags are funnier. Also, no forced fan service.

Yeah, there wasn’t a whole lot of story in this episode per se, but it was super engaging. I totally see what you are talking about though. There was some dark shit in what little story we did get, and I wouldn’t put it past this story to just dive deeper and deeper into it.

This episode was fascinating. One of the most unique premieres I have seen in some time. I struggled to actually keep track of what you would call a plot. It was mainly a collection of scenes establishing the world and the characters with some really original direction. It really blurs the line between what is digital, what is real; bouncing between the two and having the two sides of this world seemingly interact with one another.
The vibes this is giving are dark. I wasn’t really sure what to expect going in, but this was a lot to take, even when there wasn’t really a lot of story that happened. I could easily see this just tumbling deeper and deeper into the abyss, but I hope that it manages to keep that from happening going forward.
