Starting with the technical aspects, this is so well-made. The colors are crisp and the animation is seamless. And I sense shounen energy in this show. Maybe because of Akane’s desire to prove that snooty Arakawa wrong.
I thought Akane’s dad committed suicide in the previous episode, but it looks like that talk was referencing to the death of his rakugo career. Sure, Akane’s family is well-off, but maybe the dad is dead inside.
She chose a difficult story as her first performance, and she nailed it. Not bad for a beginner. But she met her rival, who’s two years older than her and is already a futatsune. That was a lucky break for her, though.
I wish they spend more time in the rakugo itself, because I find myself laughing at the stories too…
