Comments come after court on Monday rejected the president’s mail ballot restrictions ahead of the November midterm elections
Supreme court rejects Trump’s mail ballot restrictions for midterm elections Hello and welcome to the US politics live blog. Lawmakers have given their support to the supreme court’s rejection of Donald Trump’s bid to restrict mail ballots for the midterm elections. Mitch McConnell, the 84-year-old former Senate majority leader from Kentucky, was seen in Washington for the first t…
They’ll find another way to cheat.
They have plans for Before, During, and After the election. Some of the Before Plans have worked, some haven’t.
It will be the same with the During and After Plans. Some will work, some won’t. The idea is that enough plans will work that they’ll suppress enough votes to win.
You can’t rig a Midterm, you can only influence it. The Dems have to vote in numbers so large, that it overwhelms their suppression attempts. Part of that comes from demoralizing MAGA voters, so they don’t vote at all.
I wonder how many of the maga voters are still interested in voting. Trump isn’t really fighting to making things better for them financially. On the contrary
Truly the best outcome is that maga folks become so disillusioned that they never vote again. They’ve already proven that their judgement cannot be trusted.
They were disillusioned by the end of W’s failed Eight Year Debacle, too.
So much so that they did colonial drag, called themselves teabaggers and acted like they never even heard of that W guy and that they were always against forever wars in the Middle East.
Then they came running for donnie when he ran.
TL;DR, it might be that they feel dejected and don’t vote…for a while. Until someone even more obviously terrible comes along…
You’re right that he’s not but I truly envy your optimism
Cheat like hell
I believe was the command
Why wouldn’t the postal service just do shit anyway and be like oopsie wut?
According to the recent whistleblower, USPS is ignoring the courts.

The whistleblower complaint also contains a worrisome warning: The system, as designed, could reject entire batches of mail ballots over a single scanning error. That gives USPS a mechanism for disenfranchisement at scale. Attorney Marc Elias of Democracy Docket noted that a batching rule that groups ballots by ZIP code would disproportionately affect Democratic-leaning, higher-density areas. And as Sen. Blumenthal pointed out, voters who recently changed their names after marriage or moved are among those most likely to trigger a mismatch—the same populations targeted by the SAVE Act.
“It may be sloppy. It may be chaotic,” Elias observed. “But it is designed to achieve what Trump wants.”
The individuals carrying out these orders should be indicted & incarcerated.
This is where the conspiracy theorist in me goes. SCOTUS upholds mail in, in an attempt to put people’s minds at ease. USPS is going to fuck with it anyway so it’ll suppress more votes.
Had they flat out denied it, there would have been a ground swell of “get out the vote in person”, which would have raised the number of counted votes.
Granted for the latter, they’re going to send ICE in to intimidate people. But that would be much harder to do with a large number of people already mobilized.
Yup. Make plans to vote in person if you don’t get a ballot in the mail. If you do get a ballot in the mail, drop them off directly in a ballot drop box. Don’t bother to mail them back.
It will not. They will stop mailed ballots regardless. They have been already.
That’s some AI levels of overstatement. “We’ve fixed ‘x’ so now the alphabet is rock solid.”
You’ve fixed approximately 4% of the alphabet and declared victory…
“The Supreme Court has made their decision. Now let them enforce it.” -Andrew Jackson
They’re going to do it anyway, and then fight about it afterwards. I’ve never heard of an election being reversed for any reason.
Why, again, do we even have this orphan-crushing machine?
The fact that it wasn’t unanimous is worrisome, and more worrisome is that that isn’t worrisome.
