The top official at the U.S. Postal Service said Thursday that the agency has stopped work on developing a controversial computer system that was central to Donald Trump’s effort to limit mail voting after the Supreme Court rejected his executive order this week.
“There’s an injunction so we’re not doing anything,” postmaster general David Steiner told The Associated Press in an interview.
Steiner, a onetime chief executive of Waste Management, has spent most of the past year atop the postal service navigating political and financial challenges. He’s pressing Congress for changes that would help him resolve what he has called a “liquidity crisis.”
And Trump’s efforts to largely eradicate mail voting turned the postal service into an unlikely arbiter of who is eligible to vote just months before this year’s critical midterm elections, a role Steiner seemingly had little interest in playing. Unlike Trump, who was sharply critical of the Supreme Court decision and ridiculed some of the justices, Steiner offered no assessment of the court’s action.
You mean, the illegal work that is against the Constitution, right? Since the states run their elections and the feds should not be fucking around with, right?

Except it’s not, people overseas can’t vote in person, and some states only do mail-in ballots. What’s your solution to that one?

Everyone needs to treat mail in voting as a lost cause and vote in person, and help those who can’t by delivering their ballots to the polling place. If possible, recruit enough individuals to each take a single extra ballot so you don’t risk being stopped for ballot stuffing.

There’s a 0.00000000001% chance that I will lose my job if I specifically don’t vote in person, versus a 90% chance that I will lose my job for not showing up.
Sure, if everyone does this, it might make a difference. It still might not, and a lot of people would still get fired just for missing work regardless of the outcome.

Trying to vote early and in person seems like the safest bet.
If you wait until election day, it’s easier for them to try to delay/interfere you away from your vote.

Why would anyone believe anything the federal government and its cronies, like the postmaster general, are saying?
There’s already been reporting by whistleblowers of the postal service saying one thing and doing another so there’s zero reason to believe anything they says.
Vote this November like our lives depend on it, and don’t trust the postal service to get it right. No matter where you cast your ballot make sure you follow up and ensure your vote is counted.
