Tankies = An easy word for people of limited intellect and vocabulary to describe others who think critically and question the motives and honesty of US/Nato mouthpieces instead of merely parroting them.
Tankies = A word describing people who are supporting authoritarian regimes masquerading under an ever thinner veil of communism, originally against other non-authoritarian communists, suppressing communist revolutions with tanks for the personal cult of Stalin.
Also known as the people who manage to question the imperialistic motives of US leadership, then for some reason fail to have the intellectual capacity to question the imperialistic motives of the Chinese/Russian leadership.
The US blankets the world with military bases, refuses to ratify over 40 international treaties and has been meddling in other countries elections for the last hundred years. If they don’t get their way they impose sanctions, organise a coups and commence other destabilisation efforts.
Americans have been manipulated by their media for just as long and cannot tolerate any news source that is not part of the US/Nato approved propaganda bubble because it makes them feel bad. And then we see Biden banging his his pulpit and saying, “American must lead the world in the 21st century.”
Damn right I question US imperialistic motives. The 85% of the world, that is not the US or its poodles, don’t want American leadership. You cant even lead yourselves.
I’m not from the US, I am from a country that has “enjoyed” Russian leadership and invasions for 200 years, and is also now falling to the Russian sphere of influence.

I am not a “westerner”, the word “Tankie” was literally invented to describe people who cheered on as the USSR crushed a revolution of my grandparents’ generation who were communists against vanguardism and Soviet Russian imperialism in Eastern Europe. It is a slur against people who were cheering for Soviet tanks against communists.

The Balkans were mostly never part of the Warsaw Pact, much less the USSR. IDK how life under Tito was, but it’s not what I’m talking about.
Communist is still a swear word in most of Eastern Europe. The US never really had anything to do with my area’s development, the Soviets took whatever and whoever they could, though. In the generation above mine, a ton of people have family stories about relatives going for malenkiy robot never to be seen again. Doorbell scare was a thing as well. People were absolutely tortured to death, genocided, taken away, robbed, and so on.
Nobody sane wishes for going back to the Warsaw Pact. And not because we had less money. Ironically, the few who are nostalgic liked the economy being more stable. The part everyone hated was the repression, the killings, the disappearances, the fear.

Hey - it’s me from that thread. Thanks for calling out my bullshit. I just deferred to MBFC without much diligence.
I did see that there was a GMO story - and totally missed that it was just ONE story. If I’ve learned anything, it’s to read into MBFC ratings.
