I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to not only be subjected to Fox Entertainment News by my family, but to be subjected to their social media segments every 5 minutes (not exaggerating).

It’s been fun. I’ve had it for a few months and I love it. Currently trying to figure out why my PDFs get corrupted and how to fix it - I’m pretty sure it has to do with signatures but not completely sure. The other thing is that I was having trouble figuring out how to hibernate my computer, so it was sleeping all the time (except when off or in use), but then one day it just started hibernating. Not sure how that happened.

I chose Fedora with the KDE desktop and it’s great. I’m not entirely sure I understand the differences in the desktop choices but it works for me for now.

I’m trying to get my partner to switch but they’re worried about it not being compatible with/not being able to find suitable replacements for certain Windows software used for work. So basically I just need to get better with Linux before they switch lol

Did mine a few weeks ago. The only part I’m stuck on is OneDrive, which I unfortunately need. I got access to my personal files but not the shared files. The other part is I still need to download all of my mods…which I am not looking forward to 😆 but let me just say it is so nice to have a computer that actually works! It’s older so it was getting impossibly slow.

At my first job I was in charge of implementing new software (definitely not in my job description - I was basically a secretary). I was discussing security concerns with the head honchos and they interrupted me and dismissed my concerns because they “only hire honest people.”

They gave everyone admin permissions.

Got on my laptop today and Microsoft had installed (or reinstalled?) Copilot. I was going to wait til the weekend, but that really motivated me to just do it tonight. Of course Microsoft’s backup is not working properly so I have to backup everything folder by folder. Which is annoying. But Microsoft sure knows how to get me to get things done! Thinking of sending them a thank you card.

Can’t thank them enough, honestly. The only thing holding me back is my fear of messing it up when I try to dual boot. I think I’m just hoping I will figure out a good alternative to the exactly one type of software that I need so I don’t have to deal with that. I mean really, it’s literally just a PDF editor so I know there’s an alternative. It just makes me anxious.

Edit: also, it wouldn’t let me select the language of my comment. It said this community doesn’t allow posts in English. Is that something I messed up or do some communities just not allow it to be specified?

Edit 2: finally finishing up the install now! A few minor hiccups but it was all user error.
