What pisses me off about this is states that have dem majorities should be doing the exact same shit. Let them both suck so hard the courts have to demand non-party commission to set these boundaries. Why the hell do the Dems have to fight with a hand tied behind their back?

Interstate compact. Don’t give up gerrymandered districts until a supermajority of states agree to independently drawn or algorithmic districts.

They did do the same thing. New York’s Democrat-friendly maps were struck down by the state courts, and were redrawn, losing about 3-4 Democratic House seats. That alone could move us in theory from 212-220, to 216-216 right now.

A few times it went up to the Supreme court and back and they still didn’t fix it as required.

Alamabama? Missississippi?? One of those places.

If redrawn by an impartial 3rd party, then, hey, go for it.

But obviously that’s not what’s happening, or going to happen.

Now now it’s only cheating if the side that did the cheating loses then it’s cheating.

Ohio has actually been required to redraw maps for 8 years now. After the 2016 election, it was found that our maps were too heavily biased by the OH Supreme Court, and they ordered a committee to redraw it. The committee is, of course, practically only staffed by GOPers, and they so far have submitted 8 maps that I know of. At least two of them were literally the same as the map that was found illegal, and the rest of them were found to not meet criteria either. They’ve been held in contempt multiple times but DeWine and friends seem not to really want to do anything about that.

Tried last year. Independent commission to redraw districts but they fucked the language and our Republican led supreme court allowed it. Thus confusing everyone into not voting for it. And then they bragged about it.

Still- the people in this state are too dumb to ever do anything about it.

There will never be another meaningful election in the United States, ever again. It will be like Russia, the Correct Party always wins.
