The fact this is downvoted is crazy… It’s a completely legitimate question and the first thing I asked myself when I read this.

It’s downvoted because everyone is tired of centrists’ excuses for shutting out progressives.

It’s called “voting in primaries” and it’s how people outside of NYC shut down progressives. Popularity in the most liberal of liberal cities hardly represent a country that voted for trump twice.

            It’s called “voting in primaries”

Democrats successfully argued in court that they don’t have to run honest primaries.

They sued multiple candidates off the primary ballots in 2024, making sure that only one candidate was on all 50. And then appointed Harris without a primary. Primaries mean nothing to them

I’m not sorry that their attempts to stop Mamdani failed to keep him from winning the primary. Not all candidates can get past the party’s constant anti-progressive fuckery. We’ll see if the party’s attempts to keep their own candidate from winning in the general fail.

I doubt he’ll lose, he really is running a great campaign and NYC seems to like him a lot. Which cannot be blindly extrapolated to the rest of the country.

Progressives can’t win anywhere until they do. Then they can’t win anywhere except where they just won. Convenient for people who don’t want progressives to be permitted to run under any circumstances.

Progressives can win in very progressive regions and have been doing it for decades. Bernie has been a senator for decades, but lost by a wide margin to Clinton. AOC has been a representative for a while. The country just ain’t that into it as a whole, they prefer a convicted criminal to a progressive.

The party’s ratfucking works most of the time, yes. When it works, people who like the results tout them as indicative of what the results would be without the ratfucking. When the party’s ratfucking fails, it’s never indicative of broader trends in the electorate.

Conveniently. Your wing of the party prefers trump to any progressive in all cases.

Mamdani’s policies are favorable across the board.

In November, progressive policies passed in districts that Trump won.
