I saw a video on spawnwave that talked today about what games people are enjoying in 2026 right now. And the different reactions of different social media/sites.
I personally am loving Wild Blue Skie s. Its just starfox. Thats what I want to play!
BALL x PIT is a whole lot of fun. I didn’t think it would be but it keeps getting better and better.
I also liked FTL back in the day so I picked up Void War . Its like warhammer + FTL and its fantastic.
EDIT: You all are great! Keep them coming! So many games (video games and otherwise) in this list!
AT THIS MOMENT
- The localization of the first Mystery Dungeon, Torneko’s Great Adventure, despite it having some implementation issues. It hasn’t been remade so much as ported with better graphics.
- The remake of Romancing SaGa 2, which is great.
- A new web browser roguelike, Naqbu. It’s really new and on the easy side, but I enjoyed it.
I have found myself incurably addicted to the surf mini game found within Counter Strike Source. It is a $10 game that is over 20 years old and I have over 600 hours in it already with still a lot to learn. The skill cap is crazy high and it takes so long to master it but when you start getting decent, it’s so incredibly satisfying to hit a smooth run and beat your previous PB. You can even compete against other players in your country or globally to earn bragging rights for being one of the best!
I am obsessed with Space Marine 2 and Street Fighter 6 right now. I’m still just getting into each of them, but they’ve been so much fun to pick up. Space Marine 2 just nails the power fantasy perfectly, it is way too hard to put that game down. Street Fighter 6 is the first SF I have picked up since 4 and it has just been a very solid fighting game.
Void War is an awesome game, been loving the quick iterative update cycle. New ship dropped in the beta branch today, I know what I’m doing after work!
Been playing some Rimworld recently, since Vanilla Expanded-Gravship Weapons dropped.
I have a game of EU4 running, Savoy just became Italy, and I think I’m on track to form the Roman Empire sooner than later.
Driving Rogue has been my goto this last two weeks. Just something I can sink like 20 minutes into for a full run.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is my current game I’m spending the most time in. It’s Fire Emblem but now has little dungeons! They don’t add too much, honestly, but they break up the straight strategy combat with a simplified turn based RPG style. Something new, so that’s fun. Looks great; plays great.
I do like the story of my character Leda so far. It’s more “mature” than I expected as it often talks about murder and revenge. I’m eager to see what the other paths are like.
Silent Hill: Townfall is next. My friends and I always play a scary game together during the season, so this came out at a perfect time. About halfway through it, and I like it a lot!
Final Fantasy XIV: I mean, this is the goat. I’m always playing this. Eager to clear up any side activities before the new expansion in January.
Factorio, Tyr, No Man’s Sky
Depending on mood: Hunt Showdown, Outlast Trials
Stellaris and CS2
Rimworld grabbed me by the balls and isn’t letting me go. I asked for a 2 week vacation at work and spent pretty much the entire 2 weeks playing rimworld.
Committing war crimes in your off time?
End of Abyss. It’s a nice blend of metroidvania with some souls-like elements. Also playing Control Resonant. I wasn’t big on it at first, but it’s certainly grown on me.
I’m mainly playing 3 games right now.
I’m slowly but surely making my way through Valheim 1.0 with a friend who’s mostly only available during the weekends. Very fun, despite the two of us having very different gameplay styles. He enjoys looking up guides and cheesing things using tips from pros, while I like to figure out things naturally and will avoid cheese like I’m lactose intolerant. He’s the builder this time around, so things have gone mostly his way. I’d probably have more fun alone, but I know damn well I could never sit down and finish a game as long and grindy as Valheim by myself.
I’ve also been playing a lot of Helldivers 2 with a group of friends. I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with this game. There’s 5 of us now (which has been problematic in a 4-player game), and yet somehow NONE of us are ever together unless its something really tough like a flag raising objective. We just don’t really have the team play part of the game down yet (despite having several hundred hours in it), which leads to us often getting a bit tilted in the moment.
Alone, I’ve really been enjoying Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter. The second chapter came out recently, so I finally pulled it out of my backlog to play. This is VERY different from my normal games (first ever JRPG, aside from the original Pokemon games), but I’ve been having a lot of fun with it. I really like running around and seeing all of the NPCs’ own little personal stories evolving in between each quest. I’m playing on the hardest difficulty, and I’m pretty glad I am, because I’m hardly struggling outside of boss fights. Which is strange to me, because I tried the demo for this game when it first game out like a year or two ago on the same difficulty and remember finding it incredibly difficult.
I’m trying to finish Valheim V1.0 solo, normal mode. I’m almost done with the easy biomes. Just need to do the hardest thing in the game which is to find Yagluth.
I’m enjoying the little things they added here and there. Still wish there were categories in the crafting stations, not just the hammer tool.
Looking forward to the new biome. Not looking forward to mistlands or ashlands… (difficult)
Currently obsessed with Blue Prince even after “completing” it as I’m trying to figure out some of the remaining unsolved mysteries. Could possibly be that everything is solved but I’m a believer there is still more to be found.
Res Evil: Requiem - Rare for me to enjoy a AAA title, esp in the year its released (i usually get them years later at deep discount) but this has all the best elements of the franchise with a formula that feels so damn effortlessly good to play. I dont feel cheated at 70 bucks, and thats saying something in 2026
nethack, one of the OG roguelikes. it even got a 5.0.0 update recently and it’s as fun as ever!
